We have a Dometic refrigerator in our RV model NDR 1062 for some reason it just stopped working. We took everything out and defrosted the entire freezer and refrigerator. Then turn it back on. The freezer is working but the refrigerator portion is not getting cold enough. I don't know if it has a fan or we just have a problem in the refrigerator. I checked the fuses on the control circuit board they are fine. I have also tried it using LP and we seem to have the same problem. We left the system on for 10 hours in the refrigerator does not seem to be cooling much. There is an environment switch that you turn on to keep the refrigerator from producing a lot of water from condensation that switch is on. What I'm looking for is some diagnostics that I can run or check. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Vince Hammond

SOURCE: Not getting cool enough

this sounds like a compressor problem. if the outside coils are getting hot (and properly ventilated) but the inside of the unit is not getting cold then the heat is coming from the compressor.

SOURCE: norcold rv refrigerator freezer

Make sure the thermister is attached firmly to the fins in the back. The boards on a Norcold can be reset a service center familiar with this process is your best bet. It takes disconecting the board and then shorting it out best to leave it to some one who is familiar.

I finally did a Google search for the NDR 1062 and found the Illustrated parts breakdown on PPLs web site. Also, received an email from a helpful reader of Fix-Ya Site with another site that had the parts manual.

NDR 1062 Dometic Refrigerator

Not unless you unplug the thermistor from the circuit board and let it run for 24 hours. If it does not cool after that then your cooling unit is bad.

We have a dometic frig in our RV that runs on either electric or gas. Can I run it on gas while driving to the campground or do I just turn it off until we arrive?

The dometic is designed to run down the road in the gas mode, but NEVER fill you LP tank with you unit switched on, in either the gas or AC mode. Make sure you shut everything down before filling the tank!

My Dometic NDR1062 only runs on gas, its set for auto and has 110

There is a control board and a step down transformer that may be at fault.
These should be located in the lower rear of the unit.
