How do i thread Elna 1200 also bobbin placement.

You should probably find an owners manual. Search for:

Make Model manual
(however, Elna manuals are seldom free)

IMPORTANT TIPS:
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread! Install a brand new needle at least every 8 hrs of sewing or whenever it strikes something. AVOID old and bargain bin threads.

I have an elna airelectronic tsp machine & cannot thread bobbin. Please help

Firstly, have you got an Elna metal bobbin? it should be solid on the bottom and have 7 holes on top. It is essential that you always use it this way, wind it with the holes on top and load it into the bobbin holder the same way.

Have a look at the image above, you need to load the bobbin in and click the thread into the tension spring so it doesn't lift back out when you pull the thread upwards. There should be an audible click as it goes in.

If you can't get it right or this image is just too small, feel free to email me and I'll send you the image and talk you through it, I have a TSP machine too. [email protected].

Also, check my tip on bobbin winding here http://www.fixya.com/support/r10598580-winding_bobbin_correctly it is important to get a good even tension onto your bobbin as you wind the thread on, you may need to manually add some tension to the thread as it winds off the spool, as I've described in my tip. I sold these machines for Elna and customers would bring them in complaining of problems with their machine. Almost aways, it was the needle in backwards, bobbin upside down, thread/lint buildup in the bobbin race or badly wound bobbin that was the problem.

Hope this helps you Gaylene, but if not, please email, I may be able to send you the relevant manual pages.

I have mislaid the instructions for my Elnita 140. In particular, I need to find the instructions for threading, including the little bobbin that goes underneath!

This is a machine made under licence for Elna back in the 80's I believe. So should be a bobbin inside a bobbin case mounted vertically. Try this link for threading up, it should be very similar.

http://www.sewusa.com/Threading_Diagrams/Threading_Pages/Elna_Sewing_machine_threading/Elna_225_threading_diagram.htm

Many machines have this bobbin case design and they all work much the same way, you need to place the bobbin into the bobbin case with it turning the right direction, click the thread into the tension spring on the outside of the bobbin case then latch it into the rotary hook of the machine, usually there is a little latch on the bobbin case that holds it in.

Top thread is usually fairly obvious, from the spool through an eyelet, through the take up lever, through a tension device, then down to the needle.

Always thread up with the pressure foot raised as this opens up the tension device and allows the thread to seat in correctly.

You can probably buy a manual for your machine from either sewusa.com or www.sewingpartsonline.com or "sewing machine relics" websites. Or just search ebay, there are several vendors who sell pdf copies of different manuals there.

I hope this helps you get sewing with your Elnita, four thumbs up if so.

On my elna supermatic 722010 sewing machine, the thread makes the bobbin pop out and the thread get tangled underneath. I have had it fixed twice, which is expensive. Should I just get rid of it and buy...

not unless you can find another swiss elna, like star series su. check bobbin in right way, holes on top to wind and load. you havent bought anothet type bobbin??? go to www.arizonaexpressionz.com and download a manual for supermatic. then read bobbin winding and threading carefully and rewinf bobbin and thread up again. make sure thread goes into tension spring all the way. bobbin should turn anticlockwise when yoou pull thread. also please brush clean bobbin holder area and check for any threads caught there. now a drop of quality clear machine oil in middle hole and gently run for 30secs to work in. do this every time you get your machine out. there are several oiling points shown in manual. oil them. these machines are quality but yours may need love tlc from a elna tech especially if it has not been serviced in a while. but a well maintained elna will out stitch a new plastic machine any day in my humble opinion. if you want to join yahoo group elna heirlooms, experts who service their own and share photos info manuals and love these vintage classics.

Having thread breakage probelm and also can't track down the correct bobbin to use on the Elna 2005

have you got the manual for this machine? You can download one from here: http://www.ps2netdrivers.net/manual/elna.2005/

It is a front loading bobbin and removabel bobbin case so I think the bobbin is a plastic "Class 15" - like this http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/bobbins-class-15-plastic-10-pack.aspx

Thread breaking could be caused several factors such as the thread actually being old and brittle, the needle or needle plate having burrs and catching the thread, incorrect threading, bobbin in bobbin case the wrong way, or top tension discs playing up/too tight or thread catching somewhere in the threading path.

I'd suggest that you trouble shoot this and refer to the manual for cleaning instructions. If you can access them clean between the tension discs (turn tension down to zero and "floss" between the by running the selvage edge of a piece of clean cotton scrap through the discs to remove any lint/dye buildup). Wind a fresh bobbin and rethread referring to the manual to ensure the bobbin is turning the right way. New needle and rethread top thread refering to threading diagram. Tension on 5 and test sew again.

If you are still having problems, then the machine may benefit from a service by your local Elna dealer, a good service and clean at least every 2 years is recommended.

I have for gotten how to make the machine sew and im having trouble threading a bobbin for my moms machine elna 7000 i need a manual or a quick note to get started

YOu can down load a manual from here http://www.arizonaexpressionz.com/elna_instruction_manuals/Elna7000.pdf

Just remember to click the bobbin thread into the tension device correctly and hold the two threads behind the pressure foot when you start each seam - Elna top loading bobbins give great stitch quality but you just need to keep stray threads out or they'll jam up.

Also, you must use the Elna plastic bobbin that the manual specifies for this machine - the 5000, 7000 and 9000 were Elna Tavaro Switzerland's first foray into computerised machines and first released in 1986.

Also, please check the manual when you go to buy twin needles, there are two types now as computerised machines usually need the twin needles offset from the shaft position. They have red or black plastic block between the shaft and the twin needles - I think you need the red ones but just double check the manual to make sure. And you can't do all the wide stitches with a twin needle as it will strike the foot.

Hope this helps a little.
