Samsung 46" LCD vertical lines

I have a Samsung 46", LCD TV model# LN-S4695D The tv has vertical lines that are evenly spaced all across the screen. If I take the back off and point a fan at it, that seems to help a little. If I unplug it for a while that seems to help as well. The lines are usually red, white, and blue. If I bring up the menu the lines still show up behind the menu screen. The lines are not visible when there is no input going into the TV, just the normal blue screen. (No DVD player or cable plugged in) It has been suggested to replace the power board, T-con board, and main input or signal board. I am not sure what to do. Any suggestions???

SOURCE: LN-T4665F 46 in. LCD- Black Line across screen

The set is under a year old and is under warranty. The LVDS cable inside these sets have a history of coming loose. The problem could be the panel. Either way, the set is the problem and needs to be looked at. This set is worked on in the home and does not need to be taken to a shop, so, you can still use it. Contact Samsung at: 1-800-SAMSUNG Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Samsung LN-R408D - No Picture

My Mom's LNR408D also had sound but no picture. I was able to fix it by soldering in a jumper wire across a blown (1.5A ???) SMD picofuse on the "T-Con" board.
Consider attempting this ONLY if you: 0) Know enough to avoid the potentially fatal High Voltage parts of the power supply board!!!
1) Are a fearless hackazoid 2) know what you're doing with a soldering iron and teensie SMD parts 3) are gonna throw the busted thing out anyway so you have nothing to lose and won't be sad if you screw something up.
4) Know enough to avoid the potentially FATAL High Voltage parts of the power supply board!!!!!

This board is at the top center under a close fitting RF shield. The suspect part was labeled "CP" on the board and marked with "P" on the part. It is visible above the right-center of the connector from the main board. An ohmmeter showed it as open, so I bypassed it with a jumper wire from connector VIN to the hot side of C13. One image shows the suspect part and the jumper in place.

The other shows the TCON board placement top-center (under its RF shield). With care, it seems possible to test the fuse and put the jumper in place without removing the shield. (Obviously don't touch anything else with the VOM leads!)

Thanks to ZORBUS and Steve's TV and Electronics for the idea.

Samsung LN-S4695D LCD WON'T TURN ON BUT POWER LIGHT IS ON ?

I would recommend you get a professional diagnosis. There is high voltage present in the set that can harm you. Being that you never messed with a TV, you could possibly cause more damage to your set. These flat panel TV contain sensitive circuitry. What you are describing sound like a fault with either the power supply or main board.

Samsung LN-S4692D - Vertical lines (>15) & static on screen

this sounds like a scan board gone ,, if you check ebay youll see two things,
1, other tvs for sale with the same fault (It might give you a clue to the fault ie , which board )
2, the same tv as yours with a broken screen ,

i dont know how good you are with taking things to bits but i personally would buy the tv with the broken screen and start swapping over the internal boards ?

Have you checked your home insurance policy for broken tv,s
it may have fell of its stand when you were'nt looking?
