I have a Sony Vaio VGN-AR320E and there's a problem with either my video/graphics card or my screen. there are a lot of lines on the screen when the computer boots up and even on the desktop. when I tried to reformat everything on my computer and installed Windows 7 from Vista the problem still persists. is this just a monitor problem? Or a graphics card error. please let me know.

Vgn ar630e fuzzy screen

Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture okay! the LCD screen will need to be replaced on the laptop, but if both show the same symptom it is the Video Graphics Card normally built into the motherboard.

I have vertical lines in various colors on my screen. I thought it might be the video card so I connected my laptop to another monitor and there we not any lines. Since I ruled the video card out, I figure...

hi there.
try going into the bios and check if the lines are still there, If the lines are visible while in the bios it means that the LCD is the point of failure however if it's not then go to safe mode with networking so you can still connect to the internet and then download the latest driver for your video card from sony or the video card manufacturer.
Hope this helps!

How can I get a recovery disc for a vaio vgn-ar320e laptop

For a factory reset there are two installation options:
C:\ drive recovery
System recovery

System recovery will rebuild the partition. C drive recovery will simply re install the C drive on the active partition. When you do full system recovery we create a hidden partition that is read only. this gives you the F10 boot-able recovery partition tools.hit f-10 on boot up

You can't. You'll have to replace the lcd. You'll just keep getting more and more until your lcd dies completely.

I have sony vaio VGN-CS12GH so can i use graphic card in my laptop.

The graphics circuitry is integrated into the motherboard in a laptop and you can't install a different card. If you are looking for a way to improve graphic performance, your only option is to download the latest video drivers from either the computer manufacturer or video chipset makers' websites, and see if any new capabilities have been added.
