An 18 quart Hamilton Beach roaster oven will not stop heating even when the dial is turned to OFF. Is there a supplier where I can purchase the rheostat? OR do you have other advise why it will not turn OFF? Also, I would like to suggest that FixYa put another category on your web site of Other.

No most if not all North American units are hard wired for
120 volts . But there's solutions ,got to radio shack
and buy a power converter 120-220 ac not sure of the cost,
you may have to shop around to get a good price.

I found that the FRONT metal brace was BENT a little out of line, probably from years of use.
I would not recommend this unless you are comfortable with working with electricity and KNOW SAFETY PRECOTIONS!
I BENT the front bracket about 1/32 of an inch toward the rear of the thermostat and that seams to have cured the problem.
Temperatures are about 10º off from what the dial indicates they should be but it is usable as such.
The front brace should have been made out of a heavier gage of steel and the temperature adjustment Allen screw in the middle of the temperature shaft should have had a longer reach to compensate for this problem also.
but all in all for such an OLD design it is not to bad.
ALSO a company such as "HAMILTON BEACH" needs to get their head out of the sand of the 18th century and into the 21st century and PROVIDE A FULL SERVIVE MANUAL AND PARTS SEARCH ON LINE!
THIS EMAIL AND OR CALL OR WRITE AND 2 - 5 WEEKS SERVICE WENT OUT IN THE 1950's or 1960's.
Come on Hamilton Beach you make a really decent product now lets get the lead out.
Mine starts heating when plugged in even before the setting is changed from off. It heats to the highest possible temperature. I also would like to find a rheostat or whatever the part is to replace it. Hopefully before Christmas.
