I have an onga model 445 pump wont work on a generator

I have an onga model 445 pump i use to supply water from a tank for my house. i cannot read the pump wattage on the label other than it is a 1 (single i guess) phase. i thought it was around 900w but am not sure. it has a pressure switch fitted. i want to run it from a generator a hyundai 2.8kw model when i lose grid power, which is fairly regular. problem is the pump stalls the generator. any ideas why this happens and how it may be overcome?

You can try running a heavier Gage or shorter cord to the genarator. If that's been done try useing a power suppley box commeing from your gen. not a surge protector this will have battries inside it, doing this will cutt down on electrical resistance. If those don't work you will need a bigger gen. The problem is the amprage is to low, one more thing, look in to a inline a/c compasitor

We have Onga SMH55. Our in ground tank is below pump level. Pump is fully primed and gives presssure to garden tap but no pressure to house taps.

if the pump is delivering to the hose tap then it is working
there has to be a problem in the plumbing and control arrangement to the house taps for there to be no pressure at the house
possible tap turned off to the house circuit
Is the pump big enough to supply constant pressure /flow to more than one tap
what sort of pressure control unit is there on the pump
what distances and head heights are involved from the water level in the tank to the house taps
Is there water flow from the house taps but not at pressure
the pump should be able to maintain at least 35psi with at least 4 taps running

Big rainwater tank ran dry and so electric Onga pump that normally pumps water from big tank to little overhead tank kept failing. Have since refilled big rainwater tank, but pump keeps failing. Have

Release AIR lock. Air has got trapped in the pump hence it cannot create necessary level of suction. The way normally you do this by filling the water path of the pump with water and get the air released.

My electric onga water pump which pumps water from my watertank to the house will not turn off. I have looked for a leak but cannot find one.

What is the model of the pump? What type of control does it have - pressure switch, electronic controller or what?

We have a onga pump model 445 that we use to draw water from a concrete tank in the ground for our drinking water in the house on our farm...my dad has problems adjusting the pressure to it and also trying...

The pump is equipped with a pressure switch. It is a rectangular thing on the discharge side of the pump. If you open its cover, you will see 2 springs with turning bolt on top. The larger spring controls the operating pressure (pressure where you want the pump to stop), and the other one is for the pressure differential (the difference between the pressure you want to stop and the pressure you want to make the pump run again). Usually, the springs are graduated. just turn the adjusting screws to the desired operating pressure and desired differential. For example you want to stop your pump at 40 psi and run it again at 30 psi. Adjust the larger spring to 40 and the smaller one to 10.
