Onkyo TX-SR606 HDMI Input

Receiver will not recognize HDMI input for sony blue ray dvd player. I have had reciver for about 14 months. Now all of a sudden we can get sound but no video or nothing at all. We get ATT U Verse through the receiver fine. We believe it's the receiver rather than a TV problem because the receiver will not show HDMI on it's display screen. When it does, the dvd can be seen and heard.

MY 806 has a delayed start on audio then eventually video. This is frustrating, I can't see myself throwing away the $800 I paid for the receiver. Does anyone know the real cost for the HDMI Board? Is it a DIY project or does it require a professional?

The problem is the hdmi board in the receiver .they are having trouble with the smd regulator and smd capactors that they are using on the board, they have updated the new boards as i have not got any back when replacing with the new boards. I have replaced at least 35 hdmi boards on this model. If you call Onkyo they will tell you that you have a hdmi board bad and take it to an onkyo dealer.

I thought my Panasonic BD 35 was the issue... after 10 to 30 minutes of not having a picture on the screen w/ sound is coming from my speakers... I could take the hdmi input from back of receiver and plug into my tv and get a picture... I got an email response from Onkyo support. They instructed me to reset it back to factory settings... Press and hold the Clear? and then power down. Let go of the buttons... power on! If this doesn't work pull out your receipt and they will give you instructions on where to take it for warranty work... if your still with in the two year window. Good luck.

Dunnbiker... do you read other forums? this issue is pretty well documented... more than one source and it's considered common knowledge... Google search it.

Why can't it be the BluRay player or its cable?

BTW: is the BluRay (model X?) the new kid on the block? It probably has a number of settings that could be causing the problem.

Have you proven the Blu-Ray and the ATT act the same on any HDMI input; or that only one HDMI input is squirrely?

Try a differnt HDMI input on the Onkyo and/or the component video connections from the BluRay. I use HDMI/DVI and component to my TV because it only has the one DVI and I can't see a difference in HD content.

Unable to connect a blu ray dvd player to onkyo tx-sr605 via hdmi

Not sure what unable to connect means..but I will assume you have the correct cable.

First make sure you have plugged the from the HDMI cable from the DVD play into the IN 1 HDMI port on the back of your Onkyo

On the Receiver
Enter the Setup mode
Select INPUT OUTPUT ASSIGN
Next make sure the HDMI monitor out is set to YES on the Receiver
Monitor out
HDMI Monitor - YES

Next you need to assign the HDMI INPUT to DVD
Select INPUT OUTPUT ASSIGN
HDMI INPUT
DVD - IN1
CBL/SAT - IN2

This may be your issue.

Next step would be to verify your television input settings.

Nice receiver!

Best of luck!

I cannot get video signal from my Samsung p1590 Blu Ray player via HDMI to pass through my Onkyo TX-SR606 AV Receiver. I get video if I connect Blu Ray player directly to TV, and have tried all HDMI ports...

I think this one is for the Onkyo wizards:

I would write them via email here:

http://www.onkyousa.com/feedback_form.cfm

However I did find this 2 page hookup manual with nice notes at link listed below that may help you solve the mystery:

(seems you may have to assign the digital input)

http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/QuickHookup/TX-SR606_QSS_En_A.pdf?CFID=918117&CFTOKEN=40624545&jsessionid=f0306ea8a0d68bb60a49102e3e5510576756

Assigning the Digital Input
If there’s no sound, you’ll need to assign the digital inputs as
necessary using the setup menus on the TX-SR606’s display.
If you connect your DVD player to the AV receiver’s COAXIAL 1
DIGITAL IN, and your cable/satellite receiver to the COAXIAL 2
DIGITAL IN, as shown, it’s not necessary to assign the digital input.
The onscreen setup menus appear only on a TV that is
connected to the HDMI OUT. If your TV is connected to the composite video or S-Video MONITOR OUT, or the
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT, use the TX-SR606’s display when changing settings.

Thanks for using FixYa!

I just bought a Blue Ray player but my surround sound has a dvd player built in and only one input which I have my new Sharp TV plugged into. How can I hook up my Blue Ray . I have the HDMI cables

Depending on if your surround system has a hdmi input or not. if it does you can connect the blu-ray player to it. If it doesn't have an hdmi input you will have to run the hdmi cable from the blu-ray to the tv then run a set of rca cables (red and white plugs) from the tv audio out to the surround systems' audio input jacks to get sound through the surround system. Most surround systems don't have an auxiliary input for another video device.

Onkyo TX-SR606 HDMI output issues

HDMI switching is an ongoing problem for the 606. A number of people are having the same problem. Mine is at the local repair shop and Onkyo has told them the part is on backorder until April. I would look at another brand or upgrade to a higher leval Onkyo.

ONKYO TX-SR606 Single output to TV

Hi there. for your receiver, the only time it can upconvert is when you go out as HDMI. In your current hookup (component out to tv) the signal from your cable (using a composite) will not be able to pass through the component cable. This means you either have to hook up your cable box using a component cable as well or add a composite cable (yellow) from monitor out of the receiver to the tv. Page 22 of the manual will show a diagram of the video signal flow. hope this helps.. ^_^

HDMI video not functioning on a new Onkyo TX-SR606

For me, it was the Monitor Out setting that had defaulted back to Component. I remembered to change the individual inputs to HDMI - but had forgotten to set the Monitor Out to be HDMI.

HDMI out to Olevia 527 TV = Blue Screen

Hi beelzyboob.. try checking these.. since you are using the RCA (composite cables) and I assume you have them on the "DVD in" at the back, go to setup, go to input assignment and go to hdmi input. here, make sure dvd is set to" ----". Next, hit return and go down to component input and also check if dvd is set to "-----". With these settings, you should get video. This is because you are not using either an HDMI or component cable. hope this helps.. ^_^
