Tv will not power up. Sounds like it cuts on and then back off.

My Sony KV36HS500 Trinitron is doing the same thing. Last night the next street over was hit by lightning. The "7" blink pattern was happening, so like the manual stated, unplug it for 4 hours. Which I did. The t.v. is back up and running fine. It's a nice t.v., better than the plasma I paid over a grand for, that's already shot. It's a good t.v. and good that Sony put in the stand by protection to prevent the t.v. from dying an unnecessary young death. Patience, don't rush it, unplug the t.v. and leave it sit. Also, don't use a power strip, that was my mistake, and unplug your t.v. if storms are in the area, I was too lazy to and now I had to deal with this, in 8 years, only twice did this happen. I'd buy another one tomorrow if they still made them.

There are two Ic's that need replacing on the Deflection Board (D) board.. These regulate power for the High Voltage and Chopper PWM circuits. The IC location on the board are IC6501 and IC8002

Hi,
7 times red light blink error code indicates Horizontal Deflection stop problem.
There are two ICs on DZ Board, IC6501 and IC8002, both ICs are same number that is MCZ3001D, replace both ICs to solve tv problem.
If you are handy with electronics stuff repair and can replace/ solder parts in circuit board then can attempt above solution OR call local vt repairman to do this job.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

It is one of two issues, the blue video driver is defective, or the blue gun in the picture tube is open. This will need a tv tech to varify the problem and suggest a course of action.
