Open the Control panel
Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon.
Verify the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox is checked. If this option is not available or is grayed out, skip to the next section of this document.
If you were able to check this box, click ok and close out of this window and the Control Panel.
Double-click the sound icon in the Systray and verify that all the sound volumes are mid-way or higher.
Verify the installed driver settings
Open the Windows Device Manager
Verify there are no conflicts or errors listed anywhere in Device Manager. If conflicts exist skip down to conflicts section.
Verify no other devices are listed. If other devices are listed skip down to other devices section.
Verify that your "Sound, video and game controllers" category is listed, if not skip down to the missing sound card section.
If no conflicts or other devices are listed and your sound card is listed with no conflicts, skip to the next section.
If you are unable to locate additional information about your issue or are unable to resolve the issue, follow the below steps.
Under Sound, Video and game controllers highlight each device and press the delete key to remove the device.
Reboot the computer.
As the computer is booting the system will detect the sound card and any of it's devices and re-install those devices. If prompted for a location of drivers, try pointing it to your sound card CD and/or your Windows CD. If this does not work or is unable to locate the proper files, you will need to get the latest sound drivers from your sound card manufacturer
If you are missing the "Sound, video and game controllers" category in Device Manager, it is likely that the sound card drivers are not installed properly, sound card has been disabled, sound card is bad, or no sound card is available in the computer. First, verify no conflicts or other devices are present in the Device Manager; if these are present it is likely they are the sound card and/or devices causing the sound card not to be detected. Second, verify that the computer has a sound card and/or that the sound card is enabled on the computer.

Ibm thinkcentre 8213 sound problem for windows 7 ultimate

Sometimes the drivers are not compatible with windows 7, their are different drivers for XP and windows 7 for same hardware. So use driver finder tool to find exact drivers for the hardware. Also try a system utility tool like Reginout to fix registry and windows errors to optimize pc, maybe due to registry errors the drivers are not working. hope problem is solved.

Sound is not working

The below should solve the problem
1. Downloaded the latest driver from support.dell.com from the Downloads and Drivers section.2. Uninstall the Driver from either the Control Panel (Sound Max) or by going to the Device Manager and rightclicking the driver and Uninstall.3. Restart the Computer.4. Install the Driver downloaded.
If the above does not work
a) Faulty hardware is not allowing driver to be installed and sound to come out.b) Corruption in Windows, that would require a new reformat of PC.

How do I replace the keyboard on a Dell Latitude D360? I have the new keyboard, just not sure what steps I need to take to install the new one.

I believe you refer to Dell Latitude D630 not D360 as I did not find the latter among the models.
As for the Dell Latitude D630, please refer to the following section of this model's service manual:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd630/en/SM_EN/keyboard.htm#wp1084976

I have istalled window XP and i had window vista...but after installation of new one my laptop inspiron 1525 sound system is not working..m trying to install sound driver but thats not properly...

You are download grading your Operating System to XP from Vista. Drivers for Vista and XP are diferent.

You can download the Audio drivers for XP from Dell Support Site for your laptop.
Check your "Device Manager" and uninstall the previous drivers and reinstall the XP Audio drivers downloaded from Dell Site.

Hope it helps.

Can I connect my dell latitude d360 laptop to my tv?

When you connect the VGA cable to the TV you will need to hit the FN button + F5 on your keyboard, that will change the dispalys from internal to external. if you hit FN+F5 again you can have both the laptop and the TV screen on.

My Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop recently shutdown and would not reboot due to a Windows Vista error. After recovering my files, I decided to install Windows XP. Obvisouly, the product code is not compatabile...

You might find it difficult to get hold of windows XP keys since Microsoft stopped selling it.
If you get on google and search for something called TinyXP (rev09). I think that this willl solve your problem.
