I need to replace GE Spacemaker XL1400 door as the front panel and handle are broken but I can't find screws to unscrew. Is there anything that pops out or do I have to unmount the whole thing? Thanks
On most microwavre ovens all you have to do is open the door all the way and lift straight up at the hinges. The door comes right off the hinge pins. In some cases you may have to remove the top louver panel (right above the door). You should NOT have to unmount the oven to complete this. In fact...I would not recommend it.
Is this a simple matter of replacing a door handle? If you need to only replace the door handle, you just lift slightly on the INNER door plastic around the glass and you will be able to access the door handle screws. There are a series of small grooves in the panel that you can use a small screwdriver to gently pry. You should not have to remove the entire panel. Just open it enough directly behind the door handle. Be careful when prying on the plastic. It can break if you're not careful. I hope this helps you.

I have had the same problem with my door. I just ordered the third front door panel. The reason for the replacement is cracking that occurs in the lower left and right corners. GE claims that they haven't heard of this problem. Better order two panels as this one will eventually break. Good luck with your door.
