Though I am no longer using this TV with a Surround Sound system, I used to use an external home theater receiver with multiple HDMI inputs and several choices of outputs - including HDMI. I ran all the output devices (Roku box, Blu-Ray, HD DIgital Set Top Box w/DVR) in to the Receiver, then ran the HDMI output from the receiver to the TV. Connect your speakers to the Receiver as well, and you're all set - the TV is only receiving a video signal from the receiver, so you can even use the TV's firmware to disable the TV speakers. All the surround audio is handled by the Receiver, which becomes your giant "roundhouse" to use a railroad term. Simply turn on your TV, turn on your Receiver, and use that big remote to select your source - then sit back and enjoy.

If you hav e difficulty grasping what it is you need to do here, get back to me - we can exchange emails, and if you give me a list of your components, I will be happy to draw you a color-coded diagram showing you exactly how to hook this up for best results.

Good luck!

Hello!
Try to calm down! Yes, TV has bunch of inputs, but the only one you can use for a true "surround" in an optical or coaxial digital audio stream outputs. Accordingly, you must choose "dolbyG 2" input on your Home theater input selection. If that one has DVD or Blue Ray, HDMI delivers picture only to TV. For the same reason. If you have any analog sound inputs occupied at your TV, those might not work with streaming. Connect those to available analog inputs at home theater.
Good luck with project! I know you can make it!
thanks,
Alex.

How do i connect my pc to my phillips home theatre system through an hdmi cable

The best way is to connect your laptop to a spare HDMI input on your TV first, then use the AUX OUT from your TV to the AUX IN1 of the Phillips Home theatre system using a standard RCA cable.
The only catch with this is that you will have stereo analog audio, NOT digital surround. However, by pressing the "SURROUND" button of your Phillips HTS remote you can switch the audio output to multi-channel surround, stereo or party mode.
What is the model number of the TV you are using?

I have a LG LHB335 Blu-Ray home theater system, & a LG TV I can get Full surround sound when the blu-ray is play a DVD but not when just watching Reg TV. I use a HDMI, should I hook up sonething else ?...

LG documentation states:

When you use SIMPLINK function, you have to

connect to the OPTICAL IN 1 jack to enjoy TV
sound to your speaker system.

Basically you need to have the Audio go from TV to receiver and setup receiver to that Input to output surround sound to all speakers.

If you have a cable box or satellite receiver, hook that output into the receivers input and that should work.

My setup is DirectTv HDMI output goes into the LG Home Theater HDMI Input 1, and LG goes HDMI output into the TV HDMI input 1.
so to watch DirectTV, I switch LG Home theater to HDMI Input 1. and TV is on HDMI input 1 (to view LG HDMI output from DriectTV, Blu-Ray, Vudu, etc.)

I have rca home theater system rtd215 plays dvds fine but no sound when im watching tv programs i have no cable box just the jacks on my tv [52 projection screen phillips] and i tried hooking them into the...

This reson you are not hearing any "TV AUDIO" through your RCA surround system would be due to your tv sound output not being connected to an audio input into your surround system. You can hear DVDs,CDs and radio possibly mp3 if connected, as these are built in to the amplifier which the speakers connect to.
If the tv has a Line out (via phono plugs) and NOT via headphone out, connect it to an audio input on the RCA surround system. If the RCA has no other available inputs, well....there ain't a lot you can do but watch CSI with the sound from the TV and then Star Wars (for example) through the TV and Surround system.

My surround sound will not work through the TV, only the DVD

If your tv and surround has an optical input/output.Then you can connect with an optical lead. This will then play the sound from whatever you are watching. You normaly select dig1 or input1 on the surround system.

I need a diagram of how to hook up my jvc 5.1 surround sound to my tv, dvd and cable box

I my self don't have that exact unit, but most are similar, and i have looked up the specifications which are:

Inputs:
1 x S-video input
1 x Composite Video Inputs
1 x Digital Audio (TOSLINK) Input
1 x Stereo Audio Input

Outputs:

document.write(neg_specification_newline('1 x S-Video Output
1 x HDMI Output')1 x S-Video Output
1 x HDMI Output
INPUTS (coming from devices to the system):
1) The unit already comes with a DVD player, correct? If so you don't need to connect it. If you do, connect your DVD play via an s-video input, since a normal DVD player doesn't need a higher quality/resolution input.

2) Connect your cable box to the home theater system via a composite cable (the one with Red green blue), if it has composite outputs ofcourse. If not, do it visa versa with the DVD, if your dvd has composite. So make the dvd via composite and cable box via s-video.

3) Audio from the dvd, this would be via Digital Audio (TOSLINK) Input or stereo audio input. the digial audio will give you true 5.1 surround sound, and the stereo will only give you left and right channels, like you would hear from anything else (like a normal cd, radio, etc).

4) audio from cable box, would be again depending what you want. If you cable provider gives you alot of programming that has 5.1 surround sound (mostly HD channels), you would be better off with the digital audio. But if you watch more via your DVD, then connect the cable box via the stereo input. Again, this is to your preference, and which one you want true 5.1 surround sound from. The system should be able to 'emulate' 5.1 surround sound via the stereo cable too, but if your watching a movie, it can't really tell if a sound is supposed to come from the left rear or the left front.

Output:
5)connect to tv via HDMI if available, or S-video.

HDMI is much higher resolution (HD quality) S-video is normal cable programing or 'dvd quality'.

And the Tv would be left on mute or volume=0 since no audio is connected to the tv! All the audio should now come from your system.

Sorry if this was too vauge, but I don't have the same system and dont know exactly what/where all the connections are. If you have any other questions let me know.

Hooking up the RT 2600

connect all the devices into the receiver inputs then there should be 1 set of outputs to the tv. This is to play everything using surround sound as all the video and audio is going through your recevier... if you want to do HD and have surround sound you will need a new receiver as this one has no hdmi inputs or outputs.

Can't play AUX inputs through Panasonic surround sound

Check the TV audio output setting. There may be 3 settings for audio output. Fixed/variable/none. Try all of the settings, and see if you get your audio back. If not, try a different cable between the TV and DVD player. I suspect this is a red/white RCA audio cable.

Hooking up home theater

Run a regular RCA type audio cable from your TV audio out to your Home Theatre audio in. That is what I have done recently with my Samsung LCD and Home Theater. You then have to put your Home Theater on Aux 1 or Aux 2 to get the sound from TV. Ensure your TV's volume is off.
