Hello there, If you stand behind the machine you should see the safety latch mechanism (round knob on the long section in the middle when the unit is raised) You will need to push up slightly on the walking belt section while pulling out the knob located on the safety rod. While pulling out the knob lower the unit about 3 inches and then release the knob. If you release the knob too soon it will catch back in the hole again. This should release the unit.

I had the same problem happen today!! I called 188-999-3756, they are sending my a new panel for 5.95! Yes, I bet that many owners of this treadmill have had the same thing happen. Mine is only 8 months old! let me know if you get this message.
