"clouds" on 32" Samsung tv screen

My parents have the same issue with their Sony KDL-46V4100 TV and were told by the tech that the LCD screen was physically broken and would have to be replaced. The replacement of the screen would cost more than a brand new TV and the TV is not longer under warranty. After the TV is on for awhile the Black cloud goes away but it always comes back when they turn the TV off/on. It stays for 20 - 30 minutes sometimes. The Tech took both top corners of the TV and pushed one back and pulled one forward to show them he could recreate the problem after the black blob cleared up. By twisting the corners he made the blob reapper which he claimed was becuase of the damaged screen. I have no idea how the screen was damaged? I helped them take it out fo the box and set it up. We never dropped it bumped it once? It's never falled off the stand so go figure? It would be nice to find more people with this issue and get a recall going. Something that expensive should last longer than to two years.

Projection TV sets have several common problems listed below.

Samsung only makes TVs that last 2 years, mine also has the same problem. Throw it away and buy a cheaper disposable TV, despite all the hype Samsung is just another cheap and nasty manufacturer who uses its customers as product testers. Why do you think they keep changing model numbers every week ?

There are bad capacitors in the vertical output circuit in this unit. The values of these caps are on the side of the capacitors. You may want to have a shop check it out for you. Thanks for using fixya.

one of the floresant bulbs has fail there is a place in Haverhill Ma called Tops Electronics that can fix you up really quick but you will have to ship it to them they do good work there

It is light engine that is going bad and causing blue haze/ clouds etc.
It is an expensive part, and I would recommend a new TV instead of its repair.

did you check the sleep mode on the tv?

Do you have a PIP (picture in picture) button on your remote? Could that be it?

you will need the optical unit cleaned, if that does not resolve then the optic unit needs replacing

Try firmly rubbing them out with a non-lint cloth.
