Sounds like a light engine issue to me. Is there anyway you can post a picture of the issue itself?

You will need to replace your bulb.
It costs around $ 300.00 for a new bulb.
After you have installed it, your TV will look new once again.

codes consist of N blinks, a pause and N blinks again,valid error codes are 3, 4, 5, 6 & 9 blinks.

Your set is a dlp..dlp require no convergence. there may be some small adjustment in a custmer menu... but not enough to make a difference. Sorry yes light engines are expensive. thats most of the sets inside

replace bulging electrolytic capacitors in the power supply will solved the problem.

You can look in the owners manual which will list the error codes and define each (if you do not have it GOOGLE the full model number with "manual" and locate it.On some of these (not sure if your model) 3 blinks is lamp door not closed---on those it does not mean that but means the door has been warped and a peg on the back is not engaging the safety switch which prevents set from coming on if door was removed.The door can be examined by removing outer plate where lamp is inserted and looking at it edgewise to see if warped.I can tell you to test this: Remove lamp door--inspect it--where plastic peg on back of it is behind you will see a tiny lever--with something not metal engage the lever forward and hold it.If set comes on this way door is the problem and easy to replace (lots of places if you GOOGLE the MODEL number and door you will find the part.If set works this way: DO NOT OPERATE SET FOR PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME AND DO NOT LOOK AT LIGHT AS IT CAN HARM YOUR EYES---DO NOT OPERATE SET IN THIS CONDITION OR REPLACE OUTER PLATE BACK WITH DOOR REMOVED- it can melt the outer plate or damage it.

Make sure the lamp door is closed correctly with security strap tightened. If the door is not just right, it will give you the same result as a bad bulb.

Replacement lamps do not last long. Unless it is the Sony MFG lamp, they only last about a year or so with normal use. Otherwise, the only other suggestion I could give you would be to replace the ballast. Not to expensive either, 40-50. hope this helps as well

First, Clean the fan on the rear of the TV with Dust off and re test, if the problem persists, replace the lamp. It's either overheating and protecting itself or the lamp is bad. Lamp should run you from 60-70 online. Hope this helps

Replace the lamp. Very easy to do and lamps can be found on EBAY for 120-140.

Aftermarket/ low price lamp wont work as compare Sony original lamp.
