Toshiba A45-S1202 The rear USB port does work, but the side USB ports by the upper left corner by the LAN port don't work. I did a BIOS FLASH, still nothing! Is this a DUMMY USB? No power to the upper left corner USB port by the LAN Network adapter. Also, how do I clean the fan since it makes a buzzing, whirrrrring noise?

There are no dummy ports on laptops....could be a cold solder point on the motherboard connections or a wire connection is loose. There is also the possibility that the usb controller for that port has failed. Below is the link to the service and repair manual for that laptop......

How to load Integrated Wireless LAN on my toshiba satellite a45-s1202

If your Toshiba Satellite notebook computer is equipped with a wireless Internet card, you can connect to a Wi-Fi access point by turning on the wireless switch on the side of the laptop. However, the signal may not always be picked up by your wireless receiver; if that is the case, you will need to check your wireless-network settings and reconfigure the network connections manually.

Open the Network Settings program. Click on the Control Panel in your "Programs" bar and select "Network Settings." This will give you options for modifying how you connect to the Internet. Select "Connect to a Network" or "Show Network Status and Tasks." Both selections will show you whether you are disconnected from the wireless network. Select "Manage Network Connections." This selection is located on the left side of the window; clicking on it will show you whether you are connected to a local area connection or wireless network connection. Engage the wireless connection. Turn your wireless switch to "On," then right-click on the wireless network connection. Select "Connect/Disconnect." Wait for the IP address acquisition. It may take a few minutes for your Toshiba Satellite to pick up the signal and transmit your IP address. When this is complete, you will see the word "Connected" next to the name of your wireless connection, and a series of bars that indicate signal strength. Launch your favorite browser to access the Internet using the wireless connection.

I HAVE TOSHIBA A45-S151 AND I WANT TO BOOT IT FROM EXTERNAL USB DVDWRITER FOR INSTALLING FRESH WINXP-SP3 FROM DVD BUT IT IS NOT BOOTING BECAUSE MY LAPTOP IS NOT SUPPRT EXTERNEL USB CDROM BOOTING OPTION....

A BIOS update may still not allow you to boot up from an USB port.
You can download theBIOS updates and device drivers for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB site from theirdownload page. Make sure you enter the model of your laptop so you can get thecorrect drivers. HP Pavilion zv6000: USB ports are inop. USB port on rear of computer works fine. USB port on left/front will power my flash drive, but the light stays on constantly. The flash drive is does NOT show up in...

After reading the description, I think you need to try updating BIOS and latest device drivers for USB. Because USB are getting power on that means there would not be any fault to from the motherboard.

So please try updating latest BIOS for your notebook.
If you can provide me the product no for your notebook and the operating system which you are using currently then I can find the one for you.

Otherwise you can also do the same.

Type in the product no. on www.hp.com. Then go to software and driver download page, select the proper OS and search in BIOS ROM pack available for your notebook.

I hope this will help.

How can I go into the BIOS of a Toshiba Satellite A45-S1202?

could be a bit cramped, sort of like showering in your watch!

Now to be serious, under neeath the toshiba is a small trap door with either a single or two screws. This is where the ram is contained. Undo this hatch and look for two pins ( might have to stand ram up or remove it) look for two small pins like a male plug You maqy have seen these types of pins before Sometimes covered with a little black square cap. Well these pins have no cap but if you short them across with a paper clip that will remove passoword to bios. replace ram, shut and rescrew the hatch and all is now ready for a new password or no password Now if I have misunderstood you and you just wantr to edit the bios on startup press F2

USB Malfunction Toshiba Satellite A45 S120

Yeah it could be a virus or mother board might need to be replaced because your usb ports are integrated with the motherboard. First try to put a keyboard or mouse on the usb port just to test its functionality,if mouse or keyboard works, that means it could be your usb/windows registries might have been corrupted..you might need to install windows,if mouse or kbd didnt work,it could be the motherboard/usb ports
