I would first check where the drain hose from the dishwasher connects to the drain stub under the sink. Remove the hose from under the sink and place it into a bucket. Close the dishwasher door and cancel the cycle to put the dishwasher in a drain cycle. Listen for the drain pump to activate. If water comes out of the hose check the stub where the hose connects under the sink with a screw driver to make sure the spout is clear of debris. If no water comes out of the hose, empty the dishwasher by hand using a plastic cup and when empty remove the hose at the pump under the dishwasher and check to see if there is any debris at this point. Make sure hose is clear from the dishwasher pump to the drain stub under the sink. You will need to place a towel or two on the floor as water left in the bottom of the dishwasher will come out when you remove the hoses. If still no water comes out you may have to disassemble the bump assembly. Not knowing what make and model you have I can't help you past this point.
I hope this is of some help.

My dishwsher will not drain always tried a bit of CLR then it would drain for a little bit.

Hello..
If the machine has an drain pump..remove it and check the impeller..can be broken if is a plastic made.
If the machine does not have a drain pump...the drain solenoid is bloked on close and the water is not draining.
You can check also the drain hose to see if is stoked somewhere.

Good luck

HI. check the following areas for faults.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer or Control Board
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

HI i have an electrolux dishlex dishwsher that is brand new and just installed. Ive used it a few times an dhave noticed that there is water at the bottom of the dishwasher, thats not draining, I thin

there is always a little water in all dishwashers. Sounds like to me that you may have a kinked drain hose or maybe the way you have hooked the drain up. The drain hose should go to a vacuum break that is mounted on the sink flange and then another hose goes to the disposal. If you have the hose hooked directly to the disposal you may be getting water back from the sink to the dw. raise the hose up as high as possible and attach under the sink so there is a high loop in your hose so water cannot drain back from the sink

Pump won't stop draining

you will almost certainly have a build up of water in the base. remove the water and retry. check to see if limit switch is not sticking or has possibly gone faulty.failing this, your board is faulty.
