Bose Cinemateonnect How do I connect my Bose Cinemate to a Onkyo TX-SR302?

  • lechap Feb 16, 2008

    The Onkyo receiver TX-302 did not come with any interface cables. All that was in the box that can be considered cable was the power cord. I am adding the Onkyo IPod dock and the Bose Cinemate speakers.

    My problem is I am not sure where to connect them.

    The Bose speaker cables are RCA connections but the Onkyo receiver has straight wire connectors to speakers. The IPod docks manual seems to suggest that I connect it to an audio connection but there is no connection marked audio on this unit.

    There are several channels to connect stuff to (Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, DVD, CD, Tape) but where do I connect the above items to?

    I also see that the unit has 2 RCA (single)connections for a subwoofer and a 1 (single) connection for a center but this is not my speaker configuration.

    In your previous post you mentioned upgrading to a chat. What does this mean? What is the cost of this upgrade?

Hi lechap,

With the indulgence of IB4G2008 as per his last post Feb 13.....

If I figure your concerns right, they are:
1. You have an iPod on an Onkyo IPod dock that you want to connect to an Onkyo receiver TX-302;
2. You have an Onkyo receiver TX-302 that you want to power a set of Bose Cinemate speakers;
3. the connectors on some do not fit or are not the same;
4. you want to know what goes to where.

If I may suggest:
a. connect the L/R Audio Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the L/R Audio IN of VIDEO 1 using a pair of RCA to RCA cable. Connect the S Video Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the Video IN of VIDEO 1 using an S Video to RCA Video cable. Thereafter if you want to watch a movie or play music from your iPod, you need to choose Video 1 in the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You can of course choose any other VIDEO 1~3;Bose Cinemateonnect - 572fcdc.jpg34ab5d3.jpg

d21fa99.jpg
b. all other source/devices may be connected similarly using the same scheme on any of the free VIDEO / AUDIO inputs
c. of course the MONITOR OUT goes to your TV or projector.

With respect to the Bose Cinemate, it would not be technically correct to connect the Bose Cinemate speakers straight to the speaker out of the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You need to install another set of speakers to the speaker outs of the Onkyo receiver. The Bose Cinamate system's TV AUDIO could be connected to the TAPEBose Cinemateonnect - 24ceee0.jpge AUDIO L/R OUT of VIDEO 1)

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi,

    If it were just music from the iPod, you can connect the dock's AUDIO output straight to the TV input of the Bose Cinemate. which would mean you need not use the TX-302 nor bother getting another set of speakers.

    and Hi again,

Do you have the interface cables for the Onkyo? And is this simply a DVD connection. Nothing else planned for this connection? I have two installation guides for Onkyo outputs.

    ok..got the onkyo panel ready to go..do you want to upgrade this to a chat?

  • Anonymous Feb 13, 2008

    The Bose end if simple as simple does..the Onkyo end is just a matter of deciding whether to go with surround sound, or not. Which do you prefer(looks like the impedance matching is a natural on the specs..never assume that to be the case, by the way).

  • Anonymous Feb 26, 2008

    it's on the main panel, yet there are many other ways to do this. send me an email(on my profile) and I'll explain some options.

Receiver keep cutting off each time it is turned on.

Probably a short in some of the wiring connections in the back. Make sure there are no wires or connections touching each other. Otherwise, there may be an internal issue. Are you sure the voltage setting is correct? 120vac vs. 220vac if that option is available. and you are using the incorrect setting (accidentally)?

Hoe to connect Bose Lifestyle 25 Home Theater System speakers to onkyo SRX-508

Do you mean TX-SR508? The following should work even if that is not the exact model.

The LS25 supports ONLY analog stereo audio input and the speakers themselves are NOT desigend to be driven by anything BUT the LS25 electronics.

If you still want to use the LS25 as speakers just run an RCA cable pair from VCR / DVR Out on the Onkyo to the AUX IN on the LS25 Music Center.

How can I hook up my Bose cinemate on my Philips HD tv when no there is no Audio out and I want to use it for my dvd player, cable box, and video systems?

You don't need to send audio TO a TV. I's a TV, not a source of anything. Many of us use monitors (no TV speakers). The Bose speakers are presumably superior to the TV speakers so whatever the TV is watching (cable/sat/dvd) shuld have its own audio.

Page 11.

If your TV does not have any audio output jacks, you can connect the CineMate™ speaker

system to the audio output jacks of another source, such as a DVD player or cable/satellite

box. However, you will hear sound only from the connected source through your CineMate
speakers.
