Hello... We have just bought this product. It is producing a decompressed, damp sound. We have top-of-the-line Magnepan speakers and a Jeff Rowland ? Pre-Amplifier / Jeff Rowland ? Amplifiers. We are using a an Ortofone ? Concorde : Nightclub Stylus with the turntable. We have another ( Stanton ) turntable and that is sounding perfect with the same needle as mentioned above. Just wondering if we could have missed something in the set-up... ?? Thanks...

This is a brand new TECHNICS-1210-Mark-II TURNTABLE... I have a feeling that something is wrong with the set-up... The cables ( Red & White ) are in-built with the turntable and I have connected them to the pre-amp... The sound from the speakers is like someone has put a heavy curtain on them !!

I am keeping my Definitive Technology BP2000tl speakers for when my son moves into his own place. Can they be stored laying flat, i am short of space.

Hello Jeff, if you can save the BP2000tl horizontally, try to make the front speaker, is in down position, it generates less work to suspend the cone and prevents dust from accumulating
Do not store them in damp places
I hope you serve my suggestion
Greetings Franco Dosil

What are Linn products?

Linn is a British company that produces high-end audio equipment. They've been around for over five decades and started off just producing turntables. Since then, as turntables and record players fell out of fashion, they've switched their focus to producing Linn audio equipment that allows you to digital stream music over the home network.

Their products range from speakers and amps to full home music systems. These music systems are linked up to your home automation so you can play music in any room in your house at the touch of a button, from any device.

They also market their products as offering HiFi audio and claim that they're space optimized so that sound is delivered at the same quality it was in the recording studio. I bought and installed the Linn Majik DSM recently (listed here: https://www.rococosystems.com/product/linn-majik-dsm) and I can attest to these claims - the sound quality is unbelievable

Trying to fix an old record player - Califone. It seems to be making a scratchy sound even though I have replaced the needle. It almost sounds like when the two wires from a speaker touch... same...

May be the "winding" on the speaker. If it has got damp at some point(you may not notice any on the casing) the cardboard tube that the coil is wound around swells and "rubs" in the speaker. Thus producing a scratching sound. Try connecting to another speaker, just to test and if it sounds fine then that is what it is.

Connect BX8A speaker to PC

Hello waddragon,

First, let's start with the BX8a. Those are powered speakers (built-in amplifier in each) so, you do not need a pre-amp. What you need to connect them to your computer is a 3.5mm to XLR cable OR a 3.5mm to 1/4" TRS cable, also known as 3.5mm to two 1/4" mono plugs (the back of the BX8a has inputs that accept either type). Cables are available at most any electronics stores. Make sure you buy a long enough cable to run from the back of the computer to where the speakers will be.
It sounds that you only have one BX8a which means you'll be listening to only one channel of the stereo output. In any case, make sure before connecting the speaker(s) to the computer that speaker power is off and volume control is at minimum. Connect the 3.5mm cable end to Line Out 1 jack of the X-Fi sound card and either the XLT or TRS ends to the speaker(s) input(s). Play some audio content on your computer, turn on speaker(s) and slowly increase volume to a safe level. Everything should work fine.
Let me know how it goes.

Try this, I work in the sound production busines. Your audio CDs are not designed for Quad listening, they are stereo. If you put a game in you will hear all 4 speakers.
