do i need to take off a cover to replace? i see vents in back of freezer, and no air coming out, no noise of a fan running.

  • Worg Mar 21, 2008

my freezer is not freezing at top but is okay at bottom. There is a fan inside at the top and it is not working. It looks like that is the problem as there is no way the air can circulate, also the door is normally difficult to open soon after closing it but now its easy to open.

We have a kenmore top and bottom with a warm fridge and a really cold freezer?

Check that the fan is operating. If the bottom of the fridge cold & the top warm then thats probably the issue.

I have a side by side double door fridge. My freezer is cold and working fine but my fridge side is not getting cold.

check yor damper door, it's the little door at the top and or bottom of the fridge insid near the top and or at the bottom behind the crisper drawer when working right they open to let cold air in from the freezer and warm air out. top one cold in, bottom one warm air out.they work on a sensor/relay when the freezer fan goes on they open when cold air is needed.

3 things
If you have ice on the freezer side.
1. defrost timer not working
2. blower fan failed, if it has one
3. defrost limit switch failed..
i dont think it is #2 but 1 or 3
last but not least your defrost heat coil has failed

The freezer side does not freeze on the top shelf. The refrigerator freezes everything in the bottom but reads 47 degrees and doesn't cool the top shelves. The fan under the fridge runs fine.

Behind the back wall of the freezer about halfway down, probably behind the light bulb (if there is one there) there is a fan. My guess is that the fan isn't working, or is slow. To test, open the freezer door, then hold the door switch closed and listen for the fan.

This fan should be blowing air up the back of the freezer, and send some of the cold air through a vent at the top of the freezer into the fridge. The air then descends through the fridge and reenters the freezer through a vent at the bottom. If the fan is broken, or if the upper vent is somehow blocked or broken, the cold air will enter (rather than exit) the fridge side at the bottom vent. Because cold air tends to descend and warm air rises, the cold air will freeze the stuff at the bottom of the fridge, and the thermostat (at the top of the fridge) will say it is warm.

The fridge section is getting too cold at the bottom

THE CONTROL THAT DIVERTS MORE AIR TO FREEZER AND LESS TO RE-FRIG SIDE COULD NEED TO BE ADJUSTED TO KEEP MORE AIR IN THE FREEZER SIDE , MAKE SURE ALSO THAT THE SMALL FAN IN THE FREEZER IS RUNNING , ALSO TURN THE THERMOSTAT CONTROL TO LESS COLD , IF YOU HAVE A THERMOMETER TO PLACE IN FRIG SIDE TRY TO KEEP @ APP 40 DEGREES IN FRIDGE SIDE SEE IF ANY OF THESE HELP

Fridge is warm even when i adjust temp. control.freezer is good.

if your fridge has 2 set of dials one numbers and the other letters than you need to adjust the dial that has letters on it. If the fan in your freezer is not blowing, then it won't force the cold air from the freezer to the fridge. Make sure fan blows then adjust the letter knob.

Admiral SAC224 fridge freezer: fridge intermittently freezes up

To Whiteorchid,

Found a fix for my issue ... hopefully it'll help you.
Up at the topleft rearmost corner of the fridge remove panel to reveal spring attached slots where cold is supplied from freezer. The spring attached had came off one end as there isn't a "slot" for the spring to hold in place (design fault?).Reattached the spring and taped on .... and hey presto fridge now working perfectly again. Hope this helps.

Admiral side by side

All the cold air from your freezer gets pushed into the fridge with a fan in your freezer section. So your problem is from the fact that this cold air isn't get to your fridge.
- the door that allows this cold air into the fridge, normally in the top left corner of the fridge, is stuck shut and needs replacement.
-the freezer isn't defrosting and restricting the air flow
-the temp controller for the fridge is damaged and thinks that the fridge is cold enough.
