Nikon f5 theres something sticking up that won't let me put the spool in

Just bought one of these for myself secondhand and had the same problem - there is a little bit of metal (2-3mm long) sticking out at the top right hand side where the film comes out of the cassette. I found you have to slide the film in from the bottom of the camera, so the leader goes over that bit and the round bit of the canister under it, then you push the bottom of the canister in.

The thread keeps coming off the thread take-up lever.

This happens on some machines. I just put a tiny piece of tape (double the tape in the process so the sticky sides stick together) over the opening in the take-up lever to keep it from jumping out. You may be able to use something else like a tiny washer, but this will work in the meantime.

80-400 NIkon won't zoom on NIkon D700

Not if your other lenses work ok. I would contact the Nikon Repair Depot that cleaned it.

F-- showing on viewfinder on nikon F5

This indicates that the camera isn't communicating with the lens. Not surprising, since the 55 2.8 Micro has no electronics for communicating with the camera.
This does not mean that the lens cannot be used, however. You simply have to switch to the Manual exposure mode and set the exposure yourself.

I bought a royal 710ml that the paper is not winding on the roller is there a setting for this or is there something wrong with it, it prints but just won't wind

No there is not a setting..where the paper gets wound on to the empty spool there should be a small rubber wheel sticking out that makes the spool turn and take up the paper...have a look and make sure it is turning( or is actually there.) it could have worn right off. It should be sitting just under the spool at one side.

Using 200-500 Tamron on Nikon d300. When I shoot, camera freezes. Clock and exposure readout next to it, on top panel, blink. Camera will not turn off, I have to take the battery out. Lens works...

Maybe there is something wrong with your batteries? Replace them. I had the same experience with my D200 and a Nikon 18-200 lens, later with my Nikon 10.5, Sigmaa 135-400. After replacing the battery everything worked as ever.

What do you want? For features, get the F5. For lack of weight, get the N75.

Nikon F5

It's possible that there was some existing fault with the camera that led to it being disused. The lack of use led to the batteries leaking.

I suggest you find a pro camera dealership nearby and ask them to refurbish the camera. The pro stores will normally be able to rent you a temporary replacement.

Film advance

First make sure that the leading edge of the film is aligned with the red mark ( close to the pick- up spool ). If this is not your problem then you will have to take your camera in probably because it looks like the spool motor is not turning the pick up spool.
