I Have a stackable unit. The dryer had some piece of metal/wire tear off of it. I think it was/is something that held the felt piece in place. I believe it was attached to the back of the drum. I know I need a new felt piece, but what about this piece of wire.

Take the dryer apart, first unplug it, see what else is broke? how bad does the belt look, the wheels in back? and the front seal? then

Write down the model number and do a google search for your model Maytag? parts. I like partselect.com or repairclinic. both have diagrams of parts you will see what you all need to order.

Remember once you remove any panel you will be exposed to sharp surfaces.

Loud rattling noise, but dries ok

The drum of a dryer is supported b the front and back of the unit, spins on a felt gasket. Noise is coming from rollers or their is something stuck between drum and the felts. The pulley is a piece of springy metal with a plastic wheel on it, could also be worn. If you take off front of dryer, drum will come loose, check to see if something is stuck. Common for loose change to get jambed in felts. Also spin rollers and pulley to see if need to be replaced. I still think something is caught in felt.

I have a frigidaire stackable washer/dryer unit. The washer works well. But, recently, the dryer started making funny noises almost every revolution like something was banging inside at a certain point....

Try to move the drum manually. if unable to run your hand along the front of drum where it meets the front panel....there are two pieces of felt. something has either gotten stuck there or something has gotten stuck in the blower housing.

Stackable washer/dryer

hi..
When your dryer drum isn’t turning anymore, it’s usually a broken belt. Tearing the dryer apart is usually straight-forward enough but stringing the new belt on the motor and idler pulley can be tricky. The Complete Encyclopedia of Dryer Belt Configurations shows the belt configurations for almost every dryer brand you can think of.

this will fix ur problem..

Clothes getting caught between Tub and wall inside dryer

there is uaually a rubber or composite gasket that fits inside the dryer drum with the front cover in place. the "rollers" as you call it is just pieces of felt glued to theexternal drum and front face and are the drum bearings. check appliance repair parts for the proper gasket and how to mount it to your front panel.
