No sound I don't get sound with movies and also do not hear sound when simply using the recording sound mode. (new to this camera). Thanks for your help!

From page 80 of this manual: "Optical zoom blocks sound being recorded when zooming."

Many cameras do this as otherwise the recording will include the sound of the lens being zoomed. There are two possible workarounds for this: 1) Don't use the optical zoom while recording. 2) Use an external sound recorder to record the soundtrack and mix them together on the computer.

I don't know what manual you're reading but the camera will only record 80 seconds at the lowest resolution. This is a very old camera that still uses the now extinct XD card. If movies really interest you, consider getting a new camera. The new models have literally hundreds of new features that I'm sure you will really like.

Most cameras from 2004 did not include sound on the video feature.

What does your user manual say?

From my little research using Yahoo Search, I have found that your camera does have a built-in speaker, but no mention of a microphone

The C-770's Movie mode is accessible via the Mode dial on top of the camera (marked with a small movie camera symbol). Once in Movie mode, you can record QuickTime or MPEG4 movies with or without sound.

So there you have it. You have to tell the camera you want it to record sound or not and that is going to be located in the user manual.

please note that the C913 hasn't got any speakers. When you use the video record section of your camera, the cam record the sound but when you want to hear the sound you have to transfer the video to your pc. When you use the camera review mode you won't hear any sound because the camera has no speakers ;-)

Do you mean in your camera or on your computer. If on your computer Google K-Lite. Hear you can download the codec drivers to update your computer to view and hear the movies you record.

This is because the camera is not capable to record the sound. The camera was not designed with any audio speakers to be able to record and playback sound recorded during movie mode.

This model of cyber-shot has no speaker on board to listen sound in playback mode. you need to transfer movie file on PC to hear sound in it.

Some cameras you CANNOT play back on the camera, but it only works on the computer. Nothing is wrong, because that camera is basic. So yeah.

the sound is recorded 'flat' any adjustment has to be made in the Editing mode on the Computer Upload the move to your computer and activate Windows Movie Maker.

The movie mode function allows you to record short movie clips. The recorded movies can be played back or stored as still images using the cameras index function. Please note that the D-390 does not record sound in the movie mode.
