I have a Husqvarna 257 that has good compression and is getting at least some spark, but will not start. Is it possible for it to be out of time?? OR???

The flywheel is held in place with a woodruff key it is possible it slipped but not likely. Did you replace the ignition? Have you tried adding a teaspoon of fuel directly into the carburetor throat? Did it try to start when fuel added? Have you inspected the plug after trying to start? Is it wet? This is a fine saw. It uses the same frame as the 262, one of Husky's best. The operator's manual is complete and detailed. I wish current models were as good, You can reply to my questions below or repost whichever is easiest for you. I hope to hear from you.

Hi

you do not have to set the timing of ignition system because it is electronic(ignition module). If you have compression and the fuel reaches the spark plug change the spark plug with a new one of the same heat range.Start the engine.

I just rebuild Husqvarna K970 and it started and ran than died wont start

My thought would be immediately sheared flywheel key, it is easily done to not enter the key in the flywheel to the recess in the crank, the key is alloy and part of the flywheel itself.

My husqvarna chanswar want start I changed my spark plug and the petrol and still want work ?

Forget checking the spark by grounding the plug to the engine. This is both dangerous and does not tell if you have enough spark under compression.
Start by performing a secondary compression check, without proper secondary compression, the unit will not start. You need between 115 - 165 psi.
If compression is good, check the spark with an inline spark tester. Set the gap on the tester at 6mm. If you have a blue / white spark, ignition is good. Make sure the ignition is gapped .20" from the flywheel, more or less will retard or advance the timing of the saw. Make absolutely sure you have the manufacturer's recommended spark plug. If it calls for a resistor plug, it MUST use a resistor plug to operate properly.
If you have compression and spark, check fuel supply. Rebuilding modern carburetors is not recommended. They have very small fuel flow holes (due to emission) Replacement carbs can be purchased for under $100.

Why wont my chainsaw start

First, pull a compression check, if you get under 115 lbs there is your problem. If the compression is good, use a 3-point spark tester to check the amount of spark. If good, you have fuel delivery issues. Check fuel lines, fuel filter and lastly the carburetor itself.

Will not idle husqvarna 240

Normally this is due to fuel supply, compression or air leak. You are going to need to perform some diagnostics to the saw. Start with compression, anything less than 115lbs will not allow the saw to idle. If the compression is good, check the fuel supply (filter and lines) Still nothing, have spark checked with 3-point spark tester.

Won't start, turns over but wont start

Three things are needed for a gas engine to run. Compression, spark, and fuel. I would check in this order. This will narrow the endless possibilities of problem. If compression and spark are good, its a fuel/carburetion problem. Compression and spark testers are available at any local auto parts store. Good luck.

Describe your Husqvarna "Chain Saw -

Remove the spark plug and test for spark. If ok, try some starting fluid in the plug hole, install the plug, and try to start. If it runs a short time, it is not getting fuel. Check fuel lines including inside the tank. Clean or replace the air filter. If this saw is fairly old, the carburetor probably needs a re-kit and cleaning. Does it have good compression? Check the muffler for plugging. Make sure the fuel/oil mix is fresh. Good luck!
