"Door Locked" flashing on GE Oven JTP15 - can't unlock

GE Built-in oven model JTP15
Went to self-clean oven. After hitting the proper buttons to start, the door locked, but nothing happened in the way of self cleaning. Turned off the oven breaker for an extended time (days), but when I reset the breaker, still flashing "Door Locked."
I took off the panel and managed to force the latch to unlocked, but not entirely opened. The locked signal still is flashing and I can't seem to get any further than that.
Once before this happened, and the repairman hit some combination of control keys and managed to reset the oven.
• What keys did he press?
• Should the latch motor turned when I tried to rotate it (it didn't)?
• Could the latch motor need replacement?
• Any ideas what to do next?

Hit the "clean oven" button by mistake. Pushed "clear". "Locked" sign continues to flash and door is locked.

We want to have the "clean" cycle terminated, and the door be able to open so that we can continue to cook our cookies.

The problem may very well be in one of the micro switches on the self cleaning motor bracket. These switches control the electrical flow to the heating elements. In the owners manual there is/should be a chart that lists the unlock and safety combinations. This would be your best source of information.

I have had the same problem! Door locked flashing after the attempt of the cleaning cycle. After taking the oven appart to get the door open, I began troubleshooting. I discovered that the door lock motor failed in the locked position. I opened up the motor and found the magnet inside was cracked! The coil winding for the motor was also open. Hope that helps! While your waiting on the new part you can trick the oven by using a zip tie on each of the two lock motor micro switches to hold them closed and remove the lock lever. The oven will work just fine.

I solved this problem on a JTP18 oven. I found that the door lock switch was showing that the door was locked even when it wasn't. The switch is open when the door is actually locked. The switch is closed (or should be closed) when the door is unlocked. I found that the switch had failed and was open even when the door was unlocked.

I used a cable tie to force the switch closed as a test. I would recommend verifying that the switch has failed and getting a new switch.

Note that to access the door lock switch you must remove the control panel. On my JTP18 the door lock switch is to the left of the door lock motor.

Bought a used GE jtp15 wall oven, wired it 220 red/white/black. It turned on, locked door flashing, 4:00 flashing, then shut off and will not turn back on.

Strange it won't turn back on. Did you see it working when you purchased it secondhand?

It appears you just need to reset. Turn off at the breaker for 2 minutes, then back on and try this.

How do i reset the locked oven door to unlock it?

I have had that problem once.I turned off the breaker to that oven over night and then in the morning the door opened as it should.I found a GE page that is below. It may help.

http://www.geappliances.com/search/fast/infobase/10000161.htm
Some models with oven Set and Temperature knobs must have those knobs set in the Clean position before the latch can be moved to the left. If your door won't unlock, try turning those knobs back to Clean, then slide the latch over.

I started the self-cleaning process on my GE electric oven last night. The process is complete but the oven door will not unlock. It sounds like it keeps running and running.

Hi
You can start the self cleaning cycle again and then stop it after 15 minutes, then let the oven cool for sometime and check if the door opens again, if it wont work then press the CANCEL button for 20 seconds. If the issue returns then you have to take a screw driver and open the latch. After this the latch mechanism should be replaced as it is bad. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Amana EvenAir Convection Plus Self Cleaning Oven will not unlock.

My oven was locked and would not open. No lock light was on but the oven was clearly locked. F9 error when I hit certain buttons.

Try this. I unplugged the oven for about 5 minutes. Plugged back in. A LOCK light came on. Held down "Oven Cancel" for a few seconds. Door opened and lock light went off. No more F9 error when I hit those buttons.

Our GE Profile JTP18 keeps flashing "door lock" since we ran a self clean

most of the time a simple fix.... http://www.geappliances.com/search/fast/infobase/10004586.htm
you have to trick the door lock mech into cycling through the cleaning process (takes about 20 seconds)
Print Range - “LOCKED DOOR” flashes in the display

If “LOCKED DOOR” is flashing in the display of your range or oven, and the self-clean cycle has not been selected, follow the steps below to reset your control:

Motorized Switch
    1. With the door open, locate the door jamb switch on the face of the oven. It will look like a small black post or dowel.
    2. Push it in until the oven cavity light goes off, indicating that the oven believes the door is closed.
    3. While you hold the door jamb switch in this position, complete the following steps.
    4. Press the Clean pad, wait 10 seconds.
    5. When the cycle initiates, press the clear/off or cancel pad immediately to cancel it.
    6. Wait 10 seconds for the display to clear.
    7. The door should unlock and there should not be a need for service.
Manual Switch
    1. Press the Clean pad.
    2. Close the door.
    3. Slide the latch to lock the door.
    4. Hit the cancel button immediately.
    5. Unlock the door.
If the above does not correct the situation, a service technician will need to check your cooking product. To obtain in or out of warranty repair on Major Appliances, you may call 1-800-GE-CARES (800-432-2737) or schedule service online.

"door lock" light stays on and oven won't work

On mine, I was able to take of the face plate and unscrew the metal locking arm from the motor. Once i wiggled the locking arm away from the locked position I was able to open the door. Once i opened the door, the little motor which controls the locking arm automatically rotated to the unlocked position and cleared teh "locked door" message on the control panel.
