If the camera has recently been dropped it may have lens damage that is preventing the camera from powering up/down. If it hasn't been dropped, your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries, place them back in the camera and give them a good charge (assuming that you're using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

After reading this post, I had a look at the contacts inside the camera and noticed they were not aligned to where the battery contacts would be. Likely bent over time and therefore not charging. A set of tweezers and a little bending solved the problem. The camera now works fine.

I deleted all pics from A540 but ended up with "no image" message on black screen. The shutter won't open either. It appears to be stuck in viewing mode.

hi,

first: be sure the battery is full charge.

second: by a compressor try to blow around the shatter and lens .

third : 3 or 4 times try to inflict a blow on the lens by your palm .

at the end see the result

good luck

Kodak m1073 dont open

The problem you describe is frequently the result of dirty/corroded battery contacts in the camera. Try removing the batteries and cleaning the inside contacts with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. Remove any residue left from the cleaning, then replace the batteries. Hopefully all will be well.

If the cleaning doesn't work you might want to check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

M1073 not turning on

Your fix could be as simple as cleaning the camera's battery contacts, or it could be something more serious and expensive. First try removing the batteries and cleaning the camera contacts with a small metal brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. I have a Kodak M1073 IS digital camera, it's somewhat new and all of a sudden, when i try turning it on, it'll turn on for a second, flash a yellown/green to red light and then turn off. I dont know what...

This problem is frequently due to either weak/worn out batteries or corroded battery terminals inside the camera. If charging/replacing the batteries does not clear the problem, remove the batteries and wipe the terminals with a soft cloth (heavy corrosion may require a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue left in the camera by the cleaning. Clean the terminals on the batteries in the same manner, and then replace them in the camera. This cures most problems, but if it doesn't work for you, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

My camera won't stay turned on

Its possible that dirt, sand had got stuck between your lens barrel and the body and that why the lens is giving you problems.

You can try some of the following solutions to help you out:

1).Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fully charged batteries back in and turn the camera on. if it doesnot work then,

2: Remove the batteries again, as also remove the memory card. Then install the newly charged batteries, when you turn it on it should come back to life.

3: Insert the cameras Audio/Video (AV) cable, and turn the camera on. Inserting this cable ensures that the camera's LCD screen remains off during the start process. Thus extra battery power is available to the camera's lens motor during start up. This extra power can be useful to overcome any grit or sand particles that may be jamming the lens.
4: Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat” setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum
5: Repeatedly tap the padded/rubber usb cover with the intent of dislodging any particles that may be jamming the lens. Other variations include hitting a side of the camera against the palm of your hand. Dont try very hard please.

Try the above and let me if its any help.

If the above does not help. Then you would need to take it to the nearest service center.

Kodak digital camera M1073 IS

First make sure that the camera has fresh or fully charged batteries installed. If a battery swap or charge doesn't cure the problem, remove the batteries and clean the battery contacts inside the camera with a soft cloth (a heavy buildup on the contacts may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that the cleaning leaves in the camera, and then reinstall the batteries. This clears most power-on problems, but if yours persists, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:
