Flip HD camera frozen "on"

My flip HD camera is "frozen" in the "on" state. Al;l I did was press the "on" button. Anybody have a solution. It wont respond to any buttons that I press. Wont record, wont play vids stored on camera. Wont turn off. The built-in monitor does not show a pic - rather, the monitor shows mostly all black with a few randomly distributed pixels of colors.

There is not access to batteries - this is the Flip Mino HD model, purchased Nov 2008.

I did solve the problem after posting, though. Went to YouTube and found a very helpful video. Push tip of a paper clip in the well-hidden reset hole. Hold for 7-10 secs and pull it out (may have to repeat that 3-4 times). After pushing for 10 secs, nothing changed; so I pulled the clip tip out and as I was pulling it out, the unit shut off. I pressed the on button and the unit "came up" just fine.

Did you empty the flip? That might be your problem. Just because you uploaded it does not mean its erased. Try reseting it if you have the mino get a pin an push the button in side of the tripod screw in. If you have the ultra take out the batteries for a second then put them back in. My flip video camera froze.it wont turn on....

Have you tried resetting the camera? Hold down the power button and the red button simultaneously until the camera shuts off (takes about 10 seconds). Then, just press the power button again and the camera should turn back on. I had the same problem; when I pressed the red button to stop recording, the camera froze, and the red light remained on. I tried resetting it like this, and it seemed to work.

Flip video won't charge

If you look on the bottom of the camera there is a button that slides from a locked to an unlocked position. Slide it to unlocked and then slide down the back of the camera (the side with the lens) there is a removeable rechargeable battery pack. Remove it for a moment and then put it back in. Try plugging back into the USB port. This should work.

Flip Mino HD Screen Frozen

I had the same problem when it was brand new straight out of the box. Below is Pure Digital's (manufacturer of the Mino HD) response. This did solved my problem.

"Please ensure that you are gently touching the operational buttons on the camcorder rather than pressing them. Pressing too hard, or too rapidly in succession while waiting for a response, can desensitize the touch pad, requiring a reset of the camcorder.

If you find that the Mino has already frozen, we suggest resetting the camcorder.

To reset, simply take a pin and insert it into the reset hole within the camera’s tripod mount, wait five seconds before powering on, and then power on without touching any of the buttons on the back of the camcorder for an additional five seconds.

Please note that resetting the camcorder in this manner will not affect the videos resident on the camcorder; it will simply reset the screen and button sensitivity on the Mino.

Thank you,
Flip Video Support"

I hope this helps.

BTW my Mino HD has frozen twice now (I've had it for 2 hours total so far!) and the reset trick has fixed it both times. It seems to me the buttons are too sensitive or the computer program not the most stable. I hope this is the last of the problems!
