>Check your phone, that is it on.
>Hold and press Green handset + Red handset + Camera key.
>Release holded keys, when you see Nokia logo.
>Now tap your lock code. (The default lock code is 12345).
>After this operations your phone will reset and maybe restart.
OR
>Press Power button, until your phone turns on.
>After that press Menu button and goto Settings -> Phone -> >Phone management -> Factory Settings -> Delete data and restore.
>Confirm your decision -> press Yes.
>Done
Hi, use this master reset shortcut to reset your phone to the factory state. Press and hold these combination of keys at the same time: on/off button, green/call answer button, the *button, and the number 3 button. Press and hold these keys for at least 2 minutes or until the date and time settings or location settings appears on screen with the default nokia theme. Note: the phone must be off before doing this, so this combination turns it on and also reset it. Hope this helps.

-switch off the phone, press 3 # and answer keys at once.
-now at the same time switch on the phone

OK. it will take some time and your handset will be format & restored to
original settings. When it ask reset password and u have not changed it before then Default security code for nokia is 12345 But if you format the whole phone memory then follow the procedure below First of all Switch off your phone then press and hold 3 keys combined
Green dial key
Star key no *
No 3 key on keypad
then press the power on to switch on the phone.
In the process don't leave the 3 press and hold keys, After some time the phone will format completely
Note: Remember one things this will deletes all your messages, all contacts,
photos, notes etc in the phone memory.Your phone is like a new phone. So better is first save all your data and then restore it.

vFull format solution for NOKIA
Switch-off your phone. 1. Press and hold 3
keys; Green dial key, * Star key, no. 3 key on keypad and then press
the power on/off to swtich on the phone. Remember, do not let go the 3
press and hold keys until you see a formatting word screen show! 2.
After a few minutes when the Full phone formatting completed, your phone
will back to original system and factory settting.
reprogram your phone through the use of manual reprogramming..
this is what to do...
press *
press "call"
press 3
press "end call"
and then switch on...
press all the given key in one pressing..
if the reformatting appear,, hold on all the pressing key until it will finish reformat.

I am also having nokia 5220 xm..(older version)
i have a solution for that...
1.]Go to menu->settings->restore factory settings->settings only.
2.] wen the phone will restart. goto menu->restore backup->and save to the Mem. Card..
3.] It will start working properly..
In the morning everyday Restart the phone.....
and if the problem persists again go the Mem. Card and restore the saved backup.....
To Restore Factory Default Settings:
1. Press both Up and Down Arrow keys simultaneously while powering up the
phone. NETWORK SETTINGS? appears
2. Press NO until TOOLS & FEATURES appears and then press YES.
3. Press NO until RESTORE DEFAULTS? appears and then press YES.
4. Press CONFIRM. The phone resets with default settings.
