Bought with Vista Home Premium, after troublesome re-installation of XP won't boot Normal Mode. It seems that whenever the machine tries to go into XGA Mode, it shuts down. Problem occurs with both the ATI Radeon 2400HD Pro (256Mb PCI-E) that came with the machine and the onboard SiS VGA chipset. Acer provides XP drivers for this machine and confirm that XP is supported, but can't help me out. Tried with Acer-provided ATI and SiS drivers, ATI Catalyst 7.12, Omega drivers. Tried with different XP installations (clean from original CD, SP2 included, different languages) to no avail (problem occurs during XP installation as well, but not always). Anyone?
Machine is Intel Dual Core E2140 1.6Ghz, 2Gb DDR2, 160Gb SATA-2.
You must have Microsoft .NET Framework installed prior to installing the ATI driver.

Hi Watashifr,
First you will need to boot up. When you do this you need to go into bios and then go to boot and disable the hard drive floppy and any other drivers. You must make sure you keep the cd driver as 'able', save setting and exit out of bios. This will let you reboot. After it`s done, the partition in the computer will reboot the computer. Make sure to go back into bios and able the hard drive, floppy etc...
I had the same problem, and solved it this way.

Let me make sure that I understand correctly: I need to disable all boot devices in the BIOS except the CD? And afterwards, you're saying "the partition in the computer will reboot..." What do you mean by that? Do I reinstall Windows with all boot devices (except CD) disabled? Please clarify and many thanks for your assistance.
