If you're looking to program a DISH remote, all you have to do is press and hold the grey TV button on top of the remote. Once all the buttons on top light up, enter the 3-digit code and press Pound (#) to save the code. If you need any additional assistance, just let me know!
Since you neglected to specify the model of your Uniden DECT 6.0 phone I can only suggest you select it from the list beginning here to download a copy of the manual and the remote access instructions.
With the remote you can enter a code twice to reset (see pg. 15 of the manual below). It's possible that you can program a universal remote to use the buttons needed to reprogram.
Here is what the manual says about deleting messages remotely:
DELETE MESSAGE Press and release 3 while the message is playing.
DELETE ALL MESSAGES After you have listened to all messages and heard the
two beeps, press 33.
you have to set the answering machine to accept remote access. Then anytime when you call home and the message is playing you can enter the machines' remote access number to retrieve your messages.
