I cleaned vents, lint traps, blower motor any thing I could get the vacuum hose at. The lint trap casing was very clogged. I get great air flow but no heat. The dryer is a Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II and the model is GGC985HQ!
Didc, on a gas dryer, if the thermal fuse blows it will still rotate, but will not heat. Since this is a gas dryer, see if the ignitor is glowing. If it is, then you know the thermal fuse is good. If not, the thermal fuse may be blown or the ignitor itself and thus the reason for no heat. Catriver.
I had the same problem, and found you can use 10 amp auto fuse for a temporary fix.

Thanks to Catriver, I fixed my Whirlpool Gas Dryer, LGR5636EQ2. It wasnt heating up. The heating element wasnt even going on. I checked voltage to the heating element and I wasnt getting any. So, after reading this from Catriver, I took out the Thermal Fuse and checked continuity and there wasnt any. So I replaced it and now the thing works again. !
Now I have another problem with the dryer months later. The heating is fine, but on the Auto Dry-miser setting (with the *), the knob is not moving to the off position when the clothes are dry. I came back hours later, the clothes were super dry and the unit was still on the * setting. Could it be the timer? If so, how is that changed?

take a screwdriver and push it in below the door at the top of the bottom panel, near each end of the panel, there is a springclip to pry on that that releases the panel and it will fold out and then lift off. then you can get access by removing a few screws.
BE SURE TO UNPLUG BEFORE WORKING ON IT.

A1 Pull the dryer out away from the wall. Unhook the vent from the dryer completely. Do not put anything over the dryer exhaust on the back of the dryer. Do a normal load with the vent unhooked. If it dries better or ok like this then the problem is in the dryer venting. Like a blocked vent pipe or a smashed or restricted vent hose.
A2 - If the vent doesn't make a difference, then check the blower wheel for excessive lint build up, check that there isn't anything stuck to the air intake baffle inside the drum, (i.e. the screen on the back wall of the dryer when looking into the drum). Check the lint filter chute for blockage. Check that the heating element isn't shorted to ground. Check the exhaust temperature of the dryer. A meat or pocket thermometer can be used for this. It should cycle between 120 degrees and 170 degrees. Check that the drum seals to make sure the are not worn out.

i need help fixing my 5 year old dryer. whirlpool duet model GEW9200LW1. I have replaced the thermistor. I tested (with an ohm meter) the heating coil, thermal fuse, high limit thermostat, & heating element and they were all fine. I replaced the electronic control assembly and the user interface. THE DRYER STILL WONT HEAT.
Then it occurred to me that the sensor may not allow the dryer to heat if its not sensing wet. Could this be true? Have I been trouble shooting this wrong?

YEP USED A 15 AMP AUTO FUSE WORKED LIKE A CHAMP AND NOW MY WIFE CAN DRY HER CLOTHES AND I CAN FINALY TAKE MY NAP ! AND GET THE ORIGINAL PART TOMORROW.

Hi, I have an Kenmore Eco Care electric dryer model 417.83042201 that doesn't turn off, it has to be manually turned off by moving the timer dial to the "OFF" position or by opening the dryer door. I removed the back vent, dryer vent hose, as well as the lint filter assembly inside and cleaned out all lint debris but it still will not turn off. I welcome any suggestions of how I can remedy this, thank you!
