How do i download music on shuffle

Thank you for contacting FixYa Support.

To download music onto your iPod Shuffle you first need to make sure you have the music and media Application from Apple Inc, called iTunes downloaded and installed onto your computer first.

Here is the link for downloading iTunes, which is also a free download by the way.

Download iTunes (for Mac or PC)

Once iTunes has been successfully downloaded and installed on your computer, simply connect your iPod
Shuffle via USB cable to your computer (if you have not already done so) and iTunes in moments will recognize your Shuffle.

Next, click on the link below to review the easy to follow video guide on how to download music onto an iPod Shuffle:

If you require more information, I also have this great web page from eHow which does a great job explaining step by step, just how to make sure you are successful in syncing and downloading music into your iPod Shuffle.

iPod Shuffle: How to Download Songs onto your iPod

Ipod is not recognized by itunes. it wont play or charge it just blinks 4 times when i plug it in

  1. The iPod reset utility will reset your iPod shuffle back to it's factory settings. It works for the following shuffles: iPod shuffle (1st Generation) - iPod Software version 1.1.5, iPod shuffle (2nd Generation) - iPod Software version 1.0.3
The reset utility will fix the following issues.
    1. The iPod won't play music and can't be restored using iTunes
    2. iTunes won't see the iPod but you can see it under "My Computer" in windows or under Apple System Profiler on a Mac.
    3. iPod shuffle (1st Generation) is identified as a device in "Recovery mode." iPod shuffle (2nd Generation) is identified as a "USB DFU device."
  2. You have to have administrator privileges to run the restore software and it will wipe out all the information on the iPod (including all your music) and install factory software back onto it.
System requirements are Mac OS X 10.3.9, or later, Win2k with sp4, Win XP, this won't work on Vista.
Download the file for the program here:
    MAC
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ipodresetutility102formac.html
    Windows
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ipodresetutility102forwindows.html
  3. Install the software onto your computer, plug your iPod into the USB port and run the reset program, it will ask for your permission to reset the iPod, answer yes and the process will proceed. After finishing the reset procedure then use iTunes or whatever software is used to access your iPod and load your music. Enjoy your toy!

I have Gateway 98 Windows and was trying to download Itunes for Ipod shuffle. I was told that Itunes would not download to 98 windows and that I need software to update computer. Was told I needed...

It appears that you are using Windows 98 as your operating system, if this is the case it is not compatible with the newer Ipod software. The new Ipod's require at least Windows XP service pack 2, Vista, or newest Mac software. Here is a link to Apple's website so you can check the system requirements in the support section. http://www.apple.com/support/

It blinks yellow-orange a couple times then nothing computer won't recognize

Make sure you don't have Windows Vista - if you do, then go to www.apple.com/support for the updated software (you can also download a full user's guide/manual from that website)
The 5 R's are as follows: The 5 Rs: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with iPod shuffle. Try these steps one at a time until the problem is resolved. If one of the following doesn’t help, read on for solutions to specific problems. â Reset iPod shuffle by turning it off, waiting five seconds, and then turning it back on again. â Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod shuffle in iTunes. â Restart your computer, and make sure you have the latest software updates installed. â Reinstall iTunes software from the latest version on the web. â Restore iPod shuffle. See “Updating and Restoring iPod shuffle Software” on page 26.
Good luck!

IPod shuffle 1st gen. Not Recognized By PC

Try a different USB port first. Here are some other suggestions:
Connect iPod shuffle to a high-power USB port on your computer. iPod shuffle may
need to be recharged.
â Make sure you have installed the latest iTunes software from
www.apple.com/ipod/start.
â Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer. Make sure iPod shuffle is
firmly seated in the dock. Make sure the USB connector is oriented correctly. It can be
inserted only one way.
â iPod shuffle might need to be reset. Turn iPod shuffle off, wait five seconds, and then
turn it back on again.
â If there is no status light (or the status light is dimmed) and iPod shuffle doesn’t
appear in iTunes or the Finder, the battery may be completely discharged. Let
iPod shuffle charge for several minutes to see if it comes back to life.
â Make sure you have the required computer and software. See “If you want to doublecheck
the system requirements” on page 25.
â Try restarting your computer.
â If none of the previous suggestions solves the problem, you might need to restore
iPod software. See “Updating and Restoring iPod shuffle Software” on page 26.
â If restoring iPod shuffle doesn’t solve the problem, iPod shuffle may need to be
repaired. You can arrange for service on the iPod shuffle Service & Support website at
www.apple.com/support/ipodshuffle/service.
