2 press the dryer button to scroll to the setting you want
3 press the spin button (the swirl button next the the spin speed display) Scroll through the speeds until it reads zero/blank

Particular problem understanding the dryer controls
I have the same problem (can't figure out how to use dryer on it's own) but the manual that cane with the dryer doesn't help
can't use dryer by itself.
