What does the code 5d mean on my washing machin???

The 5d code is actually an Sd code and it means suds have been detected in the washer. This can indicate to much soap or the wrong kind of soap was used in the washer. Be sure HE detergent is being used. If can also indicate the drain pump is restricted or the drain hose is kinked.

The 5d (or Sd) error code indicate that the control detected a suds lock or overdose of detergent during the drain or spin phases of the cycle. This is usually caused by overuse of detergent. It can also be caused by using regular detergent instead of HE (High Efficiency) detergent. After the excessive suds dissipate, you can normally clear the fault code and then run a drain/spin to finish the load of laundry.

If you detect no excessive suds, this fault code could be caused by a clogged drain system or a failed water level pressure switch.

5d is: It denotes suds lock (overdose of detergent dectected during the wash cycle).

Chances are you just put too much detergent in, or maybe the wrong detergent - make sure you're using the HE detergent.

These codes and more details are printed on the service technician diagnostic manual that is affixed to the inside of the washer's front panel.

Unplug your washer, and unscrew the three 1/4" socket screws at the bottom of the washer. The manual should be taped to the back of the panel, and the code and some recommended procedures will be right inside.

sd is suds error. add only HE soap. UL is unbalanced load. watch load size and balancing loads.

This is actually a SD code meaning to many suds. The machine will drain out mid-cycle when you push stop. You can then start the load over without adding any additional soap. Make sure you use the recommended amount of HE soap.

It is possible that instead of 5d that you have a SD. The SD error is usually form an excess of suds in the washer. In most cases you can run the machine through a couple rinse cycles and clear that right up. If that does not work then you will need to clean out the drain and your pump filter. The filer is located behind the bottom panel and you just unscrew it from the pump.
