Contact customer service with microsoft and advise them of all the information you provided us. The key may be a fake key, give them the key number to ensure you have a valid key, if it is not they will ask you where the product came from, if it was a store, then give the store name, they may give you a replacement key, they do this sometimes if it was a STORE it came from.

Yes you need product key to be able to use your office application. You can get the key from Microsoft sight or from microsoft authorised reseller.

Normally the Microsoft key code is on the disk or paper jacket that came with you system. It is the re-installation disk. XP, Vista, etc. Do you have that?

see it might be an issue where u might have to go ahead and reinstall your OS or perform recovery on the pc .... but before that try to load the pc in Safe mode by tapping F8 while turning on the pc .... for recovery keep tapping F11 while the system boots... your problem would be resolved

it is probably a trial software and yes, you would need the code from the software to keep the software licensed, they probably didnt give you the product code because of it being a trial
