Acer Aspire T180 Missing Drivers

I got fed up with VISTA and installed XP Pro on to my Acer Aspire T180. All went well except that I now am missing drivers. When I go to Device Manager it shows that there are no drivers installed for the Display adapter / Video Controller (VGA compatible) and also under Other devices / PCI Device.

I've searched on the web and am not able to find any drivers and the default video is awful.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

    Fantastic,

Thank you very much for your help melnavz, it is greatly appreciated.

  • julio_03 Jan 05, 2008

I downloaded the PDF file and selected the appropriate driver. But when I ran the setup application and restarted the computer, nothing happened. When I went to check the drivers that still weren't installed, the video driver still appeared as uninstalled on the list.

    Can you help?

  • rgdabear Aug 27, 2008

I switched my Acer Aspire Aspire T180 from Vista to XP SP2.
I reformatted the drive and installed a fresh installation of XP. Everything works great except I don't have sound or connection to internet. According to the Device Manager, I don't have drivers for PCI Ethernet, Video Controler, Sound and the other devices in the PCI category. Can I get a download of these drivers?

  • paddy-o5 Oct 18, 2008

i recently done the same and windows update fixed me up with everything but the simbus controller and the audio controller

  • Anonymous Oct 24, 2008

My problem is the display drivers. None I've tried works. At least I fiddle around with the audio drivers and accidentally discovered that The so called HD audio for realteak does well, as for the display the situation is far worse than one can imagine because I have tried a dosen of them now but the effort invains. I've been using every utility disk i could lay my hands on "alas" none works. So I'm now stuck with vista and my slow computer with the RAM upgraded to 1.25GB (i.e.1GB + 512MB).

My problem was with the T180 was the VGA support under XP. Reinstalling the Chipset drivers fixed that - audio and ethernet still broken but I'm using a wireless adapter for networking and I have separate sound care for sound - but anyway the link is:

http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads_gd.html

I downloaded and installed chipset for XP 32 and it worked fine - presume the same is true for the Home Edition drivers.

I did try the pdf index suggested by a previous poster but I found all the links to XP drivers were broken.

I had the same problem when I "upgraded" a T180 from Vista to XP. You have to ensure that the drivers match the audio chip. There are two types - check out the audio chip with PCwizard.
Downloads are availabe from the Acer site.

... further to my above comments, make sure that you have the correct ethernet drivers before you start otherwise you will not be able to access the internet.!

  • Anonymous Jan 07, 2008

Be sure that the downloaded drivers is same model of what your PC too. Please select the appropriate model number of the system before download the drivers.

Downloaded drivers is in ZIP format you should unzip that and run it in your computer.

Acer Aspire T180 is missing Video Controller Driver

Find out what type of Nvidia graphics card it is, then goto the nvidia site and download the installer from them. The installer usually supports multiple families/models of cards. But yes, you need to download the installer for Win XP pro.
You can do it manually, or have it automatically scan for the hardware and download the correct driver automatically.

Here's a link to the automatic --> http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en-us

YOu can download driver from the acer wbsite. or copy and paste to the address bar the link provided by geek63640, and then in "product line" select "Desktop" then in product select "aspire T 180" and in the download column select what driver you want to download.

But recommended to download all the drivers and then install all. pls install in series.

Missing Vista home basic product number

Acer gives you the option to create your own cd's. Click the start button & go to all programs. Look through the programs installed. Someting like DVD pro. or nero. There is a program in there so you can creat your own set of restore cd's. The reason your PC is so slow is because Acer loaded the system up with a ton a junk you'll never use. (Can always return it). I would befor the warranty runs out.........

Good Luck!
