What do you do when it says calc. on the display?

Calc is indicating that it's time to descale the lime build up inside your coffee maker. Most machines are easily cleaned by running a solution of 4 parts water to 1 part vinegar. Run this solution through a regular coffee cycle (no coffee). After running this solution, you may want to run straight water once more to ensure there's no vinegar aftertaste. Your machine will now be clean and the CALC message should disappear. If not, post back with the Model # of your Krups coffee maker for further instructions. Some machines have a Descale or Self Cleaning option built into them.

Coffee maker will not start. It is program correctly and acts like it wants to start, but will not.

If your display works then there is probably a problem with your heating element. Without the heating element working properly it will not draw in any water to brew.

It says the water reservoir has not been filled even when there is water in it. I'm unable to make coffee and keep getting this error signal.

The thermal cutoff fuse is bad. Fuse is located on the side of the heating element. No continuity will indicate failed switch. replace as assembly with heating element.

Door popped off my Krups FME4 drip coffeemaker.

Just had the same problem today so I thought I would share with you how to fix it. The spring runs up through the door that opens, pop off the silver top and the wire where it makes a L, lock it into the top and put the silver top back on. The switch on the right is only to hold the door open. Good luck.

FME4 won't brew; thinks there's no water

I believe that the description you made of the horizontal dashed lines indicates that the unit needs a descaling. If it also says "CALC" on the LCD display, then that probably means that calcium build-up needs to be removed. I am looking for my instruction manual because my machine is currently doing the same thing and in the past I've followed the instructions to descale it using a solution of water and vinegar. The weak acid from the vinegar removes the calcium deposits in the machine. Use distilled water and you won't have to descale it!

The display reads CALC.

I have a Krups model FME4 and it means that you should descale the machine. Here's a link to the use and care instructions for my model, I assume it would be the same for yours.

My problem is that CALC continues to display even after I've descaled several times. Good luck with yours.
