it is either the backlight tubes or the circuitboard that runs the backlight tubes.

You say the laptop all of a sudden flashed off.

How old is the laptop? You may have suffered one of two things? First of all, if the hard drive will not boot back up, even after using the recovery discs, then that would explain it powering off. I have seen this happen on old desktop hard drives.

Next, try to get the transformer or adapter tested. It may not be putting out enough amperage to run the laptop.

Take it to a Acer authorized dealer to have the cmos cleared, try to run a repair to your operating system from the cd.

I think your problem is one of the following:
1- AC Device or Batteries.
2- RAM.
3- Graphic Card.

So, plz check them by order.

Hi.....It would appear your backlight has "blown" (it is just a thin,long bulb in the bottom of your screen)....It will need replacing ....Although you could purchase one yourself to fit it would be best to leave this job to a service engineer

1. Start the laptop
2. when the logo screen turns black start pressing F8 a few times.
3. A Windows Boot Options screen should show on the screen
4. If you see the Windows Logo (the normal thing when Windows loads, then press reset and try again
5. At the Windows Boot Options screen select "Last known good configuration" and press Enter twice

It "should" now load normally, if not then..

1. Replace step 5 above with "Safe Mode" and see if that loads all the way through. If so, then restart and see if its OK now.

If not, then post back with any error messages and we can look at something else.

Try connecting an external monitor - if you get a picture then the laptop screen may be faulty or turned off.

there is a hole on the back usually goldish inside take a pen push it in there hold for a couple seconds and press the power button

mine just did this, sad story, your hard drive went out.
