discoonnected the cable box and tried connecting a dvd player. The red light on the TV blinks off and on when the tv is turned on no picture or sound. The same thing happens when the cable box is plugged in to it. What could be the problem?

Toshiba 61hx70 picture bounces and goes in and out of distortion

Most likely bulbs are failing and dirt and dust are caught up in cooling fans and in the projector of the set.

Needs repair. Probably melted a few transformers. Repair cost probably 200-300.

Toshiba 60HX70 distorted picture, blinking red light

You could have a Power Supply Regulator Problem. Many times these sets will not hold Horizontal sync when there is excessive High Voltage or a problem with the High Voltage Regulation. This is not a problem you want to deal with yourself. I would recommend a Toshiba Repair Facility to come out and diagnose it.
Hope this helps,

Picture red and green not lining up on my Toshiba 61HX70

Repair will require technical and mechanical skills. The red convergence IC will need replacement, which will require the chassis to be removed. After IC change, alignment in the servicer menu may be needed.Go slow--Remember, above all else,do no harm. You have a great tv,so my suggestion is get a senior tech on this one.
