If there's a Horizontal adjust on the back of the TV, turning that might help.. The horizontal is high voltage, maybe 800V so you probably need to send it to a shop for repair.

Unless you are absolutlyey sure that the value is correct on the resistor replacement I would put the original back in if it still checks good. I could not get you a Service Manual, but I do have a nice trouble shooting guide that I can send you. I just need your e mail.

While in the security code entering mode press the RECALL Button 4 times within 5 seconds to reset/remove the code.

Try and reset all the setting to factory default setting and see whether it helps! If not then there should be a hardware issue that needs to be looked into. It is advisable to contact the manufacturer certified technician if you are still in warranty or a local mechanic if you are not in warranty. Good luck!

If you are handy with a soldering iron you can do the repair yourself. 90% of power problems stem from cracked solder joints on power board & convergence board. All you need to do is heat up the existing solder and add a little fresh solder to the joint. I had a power problem on my Toshiba 50". Service guy told me a new board would be $165 + $150 for labor. I wasn't paying that so before trashing it I grabbed my soldering iron and resoldered every joint on the power board and convergence board. Bingo! No more power problem and it only cost me $25 in supplies.

If convergence is skewed and or will not adjust both of the STK-392-110 IC CHIPS this set should use need to be replaced.

In most of the Toshiba sets they are on metal heat sinks with fins near the middle of the set, side by side.


There are also right in front of them some protect resistors--most will have color bands that indicate value----most common value is 1.8 ohm (like a short or good fuse---no reading and it is gone.


This is not the most easy set to get at the parts but if you want to attempt is as A DO IT YOURSELF repair I can assist you--Total parts cost on EBAY will be under 25 dollars and I can tell you what you will need and how to approach the fix.

Typical convergence problem, no two sets will look exactly the same.

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

Convergence is off. A tech can help resolve the issue.

Most likely bulbs are failing and dirt and dust are caught up in cooling fans and in the projector of the set.

Needs repair. Probably melted a few transformers. Repair cost probably 200-300.

It sounds like the convergence IC's have failed.
Replace the defective Convergence Output IC Part Number 23905094 (STK392-110) using the revised “T” version IC Part Number 23135090 (STK392-110T). When Convergence Output failure is detected, it’s recommended that both IC’s be changed to the “T” type IC version. Inspect the Convergence Output IC’s for the “T” type version.

go to the menu, get into the "format" pix size they started this years ago you can re-size this per the sets manufacturer
