My 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee cuts of on me every couple of days. It will only cut off while coming to a stop, or idle or going very slow.. Never cuts off while getting 15 mph or higher. Have replaced Computer, ignition coil, and crankshaft position sensor. Cuts off when engine is hot or cold. Jeep mechanic says it could be fuel pump but then again he said it was the ignition coil first then the crankshaft position sensor and then the computer. Getting tired of replacing parts and it still has the same problem.
Sounds a whole lot like a dirty or malfuncitionig idle air control valve. A coil would generally show up as a miss under load or high rpm, crank sensors generally work or they dont, only sometimes giving you a miss, but that would be all the time at any rpm. Computer, I doubt for too many reasons to list. Could also be related to a bad throttle position sensor or a very slight vacuum leak.
Try the map sensor it controls the air flow thru the engine.
