Time lag between Playstation 3 and LCD TV.

When my playstation 3 is hooked up to a normal television it works fine. However i recently purchased a flat panel LCD TV and have noticed that there is a lag between me pressing a button on the controller and actually seeing that particular button executed on the TV screen. Meaning, if I'm playing a baseball game and I press X to swing, it takes longer than it should for the batter to start his swing. It's not a terribly long at all lag but it is noticeable and does get annoying with timing games such as this.

If your playing with lag on your new HD LCD your at a competitive disadvantage! Everything you see happens seconds later than your opponent who has his/her settings right.
The fix:
1. Connect your PS3 using HDMI Input 2.
2. SELECT or RENAME the HDMI Input to PC. Already pointed out, but this does not make the majority of tv's run in PC mode.
3. On the PS3 start-up menu go to Settings---> Display ---->
Choose HDMI ----> DO NOT choose AUTOMATIC ----> SELECT CUSTOM ----->
4. Now, Select all the Resolution options EXCEPT 720p. This will force your games into 1080p mode. What it will also do is drop any game that doesn't have 1080i/p support into 480. Games like Burnout Paradise, Vegas 2, Heavenly Sword, NHL 08 and more will be dropped into SD (480) rather than HD. Your picture will be terrible. 720p is standard gaming resolution currently, 1080i/p is not.
5. Save and complete the display setup.
6. Turn off the PS3. Turn off the TV.
7. Turn on the TV. Turn on the PS3.
8. Complete! (Lag eliminated). Please spread this around!

*The key to eliminating ALL LAG is modern LCD's need to be in PC MODE (NOT GAME MODE) On many tv's, PC mode requires you to use a VGA or DVI connector. You'll either need to buy an HDMI adapter or an HDMI to VGA / DVI cable if that's the case.
and the Source MUST BE IN 1080p so that the TV can use it's NATIVE RESOLUTION.* Please, check your tv's native resolution. If you have a plasma that only does 720p, your native resolution is probably 720p. You do not need to follow these steps, it will only make things worse. If your tv's native resolution is 720p, obviously you want to keep your display settings at 720p on your PS3. If your native resolution is 1080i, you shouldn't go selecting 1080p. If your native resolution is 1080p on your TV, you need to be aware that removing 720p as an option will force many games into 480.

Keep these things in mind and remember that the steps above are far from a cure all solution. .

This worked perfectly for my new Sharp LC-52E810UN LED TV in Game Mode, no renaming to PC required. For Call of Duty (any), set "Look Sensitivity" lower than normal and it will be perfect!!!

Reply for LAG!!!
You know alot of people dont know this but lcd tv's also have a speed and well the speed of your ps3 exceeds the response time the tv has. Which means some lcd's can be 1080p over 10,000:1 contrast ratio BUT can be slow.

SOURCE: Lag between ps2, ps3 and LCD TV.

this is not only the case with the ps2 and ps3 but also with xbox and xbox 360. I dont own a playstation but with the 360, I have tried all the different cables (composite, Component, VGA, and HDMI) and they all produce the same result. The issue is with the LCD TV. I have noticed that some games are worse than others. COD4 is hardley noticable, but halo 3 and GH3 are unplayable it is so bad.

Often times there is lag between game systems and HD t.v.'s, caused either by the use of HDMI cables and or audio/visual lag. The severity of this depends on the game.

If a game has audio/visual lag problems, there should be an option to compensate for it in the options menu. If it is a problem with usage of HDMI cables, try using different cables. If that doesn't make a difference, then you'll have to use regular old A/V cables.

Lag between PS3 and LCD TV

How is your PS3 connected to the TV? only HDMI?

I can help troubleshoot but tough forum to do it.

generally, go over PS3 set up and select appropriate display. Video thought HDMI and sound though optical to receiver/amp should be your ideal configuration unless everything is all sony then you can see if pass thru works with your receiver, which is where I think you are have delays.

Tough though not much info.

I hooked my playstaion 3 up to my new insignia 40inch. the blu-ray dvds work fine but when I play a game on it, the reaction time delayed by seconds...any suggestions??

Flat panel TV's do have a lag time involved in writing the information (picture) onto the panel. Some will have less lag time than others.

Lag between ps2, ps3 and LCD TV.

2 questions:
Are you using HDMI cable?
Have you tried your ps3 in any other HDTV?

Heres why I ask you this. PS3 has some compatibility issues with some TVs (or Tvs have it with ps3....that is controversial xD) so if you happen to be so unlucky to have bought an HDTV which ps3 has issues with, you`ll have a problem (as was my case)

In my case whenever I switch resolutions or enter a game the HDTV starts flashing between the ps3 screen and some blank screen with dots. I have to remove the hdmi cable and connect it again and it solves. :D

So please answer my 2 questions in order to discard some possibilities.

Lcd montior with tv box but no hdmi sound

in some cases certain manufacturers say in the instructions that when using s video with seperate audio, you cannot use the HDMI for the sound and sometimes visa versa, it's just the way the output is set up. Remove the other sound cable you are using for pc or tv and just use HDMI to confirm that the sound is re-enabled on the HDMI
