Assuming there are no lights on your machine at all. Check to make sure its power cord is plugged in. Second check the breaker. It most likely has tripped. Turn it off and back on. Machine should power on. If this would fail you will need to call for service.

There are several possible problems that could cause this. The first step to diagnose the problem is to disconnect the washer from power. You will probably need to shut power off at the circuit breaker panel and leave it shut off for at least three minutes. This ought to clear the memory of the logic board (computer) in the machine. When you reset the breaker, the machine could work.
The problem could also be in the panel controls themselves and Maytag has replaced some of these panels. Your washer might be one that should have a new panel from Maytag and you can find this out by contacting Maytag through their website.
First thing you need to do is check the Circuit Breaker for the dryer. If it is tripped unplug the dryer and reset the Circuit Breaker. Now plug in the dryer and try to run it. If it does not work again check the Circuit Breaker again if it is tripped again unplug dryer and call someone that can help you or fix it. If the Circuit Breaker is not tripped check for good power readings on both power lines coming into the dryer. Should have 110V or more on each line to neutral, and 220V or more between each line. If you do not have the correct voltage at each line check Circuit Breaker for good power coming out.
Are you getting power at the console? Also, check to see if one of the breakers has not tripped. Dryer runs on 220v and you may have tripped one breaker that will show power to the unit but won't let it start.
""The circuit breaker is okay."" that is a good 1st check.
""I may have burnt out the wall outlet. "" Plug a 120VAC device to the washer outlet and see if it works. Why do you think you burnt out/damaged the outlet?
""Turned it off for a while and will try again later."" When you power up the washer do you have any Console indications that the machine is on. I will assume your machine is a FAV6800A TL. Do you have any LED display indicators turned on?
That is all I can help with for now. I'm a technical owner of the FAV6800A machine and will try t help if uour machine is a FAV6800A or FAV9800A.
Most important what is the model number of your machine. This forum fails big time to ask members for Model# and Serial # of their machine.
check power at oulet blowdryer other apliance if no power reset breaker at panel to reset push breaker oppisite direction of other breakers than flip back in line with others good luck
george first thing i would do is have the receptical replaced old recepticals have a tendicy to get hot and fail also go to the electrical panel and turn the breaker fully of then on older breakers tend to get stuck when they get old sometimes they dont trip but they dont supply the correct amperage either good luck
Steve there is no internal 120VAC breaker or fuse for the FAV6800A or FAV9800A machines. Can you let me know what the Model number is of your machine and if you can the first two numbers of your serial number of the machine? The S/N is located here the first two numbers will be 10 through 17.
“”The plug is good and the breaker has been reset.”” I take that to mean that the 120VAC outlet has power measured with a DVM or a 120VAC item like a test lamp correct? The FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference.Sears Parts Direct for reference. So if you could confirm your model numbrer for me. Do you want to troubledhoot the issue which would mean possible troubleshooting with a DVM? Please don’t vote for me unless I can help you with your issue…..Rich
