Hi there i bought a lg cosmos 2 and it has a password im trying program it by calling *228 and i cant get the phone number to complete the process

To unlock the password on your LG Cosmos, you need to re-program your phone. This will default the code to the last four digits of you cell phone number.

You First need to temporarily activate the ESN (also known as MEID, HEX) off the back of your phone underneath the battery to you Verizon Wireless cell account.

You can change the ESN (Electronic Serial number) as follows:

1.) Verizonwireless.com

2.) Dialing *228 opt. 1 from the phone you want to activate, while the current activated phone is off

3.) by calling customer service to temporarily activate the phone (1-800-922-0204 or *611 from a Verizon Wireless handset not involved.

(note: most all phones, even if their locked should still be able to call 911 and the programming number (*228)

You can activate the phone for a day to an existing account just to do this if necessary.


Once you change the ESN on to a phone number and program it
Dial *228 on your phone, listen in and pick option 1 for programming.
after listening to music for about a minute or two you should hear "programming completed successfully"

Once you hear this you can hang up the call. The phone should reboot by itself.

If not power it down manually and then power it right back up.

now you should be able to unlock the phone with the last four digits of you cell phone number you chose to activate it too.

Unfortunately, since your device (the only that is shown) is not a smart device, there is no practical way of unlocking without going through a very extensive (and risky process). The best option would be to contact Verizon (either in store, or on the phone 1(800)922-0204), for US customers). Typically they can reset the password remotely (often to the last 4 digits of your phone number). From there, you can disable the password in setting (or change it, if desired). With the same question about the lg VN251 What if i cant remember my phone number to know what the 4 digit password on the lock code would be? Any way to bypass it all?

Try calling either #228 or i think its *228 and re-programming your phone, it will change the lock code to its default, he last 4 digits of your number without changing anything else

1 - Open the Flip
2 - Press MENU >> Then ' 0 ' [ zero ]
3 - At the Service Code prompt enter six zeros
4 - Choose option 12

Phone should REBOOT and RESET to Factory Defaults... But, if you want to go to the pre-activation stage, that's a different process...

1 - Flip Open, Press Menu
2 - Press 0 followed by 000000 [6 zeros at the Sevice Code Prompt]
3 - Choose Option 1 [ Service Program ]
4 - Click the OK soft button [brings you to the * Phone Number (MDN)* screen]
5 - At that screen enter 10 zeros - to replace your current phone number
6 - Click the OK soft-button
7 - At this screen repeat step number 5
8 - Now click END

Phone will REBOOT by itself and the screen will now display " Initial Programming Required " - This is what the Sales Rep sees when he/she opens the box and boots the phone the very first time to program it to your account

ENTER THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF YOUR WIRELES NUMBER. MY DAUGHTER LOCKED HER PHONE AND DIDNT KNOW THE LOCK CODE, SHE FREAKED. THE LOCK CODE IS THE LAST 4.

One of 2 things.. either your main speaker is shot, or your phone needs programming. The new LG's often need further programming to be completed at your local service branch. Takes 5 minutes max.

I had the same problem twice when I changed service on the phone, once when I asked to change from a fixed rate for 200 messages per month to pay-per-use and the second time when I changed phones out with the same number. They just turned off my text messaging and I had to call to have them reactivate it. Help this helps.

If your service provider is Verizon Wireless, then dial *228 and press send. This will start activation, so when you hear the woman's voice (it's an automated message) choose option 1. The call will run for about 1-2 minutes. When it's finished the phone will beep and tell you programming is complete, so just press OK which reboots the phone.

This process, which only works on LG phones, resets the lock code to the last four digits of your phone number.
