PROBLEMS REPLACING ONE OF MY ADDITIONAL VT2420 HANDSETS
I HAVE THE VT2461 ANSWERING MACHINE AND 4 HANDSETS. RECENTLY ONE OF THE HANDSETS BROKE SO I WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE 2 NEW REPLACEMENTS. HOWEVER, I PUT IN THE BASE CODE AND IT KEEPS SEARCHING. I HAVE UNPLUGGED ALL THE PHONES, TAKEN OUT ALL THE BATTERIES, REPLUGED THE PHONE, RETURNED THE BATTERIES AND ALL THE HANDSETS REGISTER EXCEPT FOR THE ONE THAT BROKE (HANDSET 3). I HAVE TRIED SWITCHING OUT THE HANDSETS BUT THE SYSTEM JUST DOES NOT SEEM TO RECOGNIZE THAT i AM NOT REGISTERING A 5TH HANDSET (SINCE THE MAX IS 4), BUT AM JUST REPLACING ONE OF THE HANDSETS (HANDSET 3). HELP.

If you're trying to get 5 handsets to work with one base, it won't work. The 4215 can only handle 4 handsets, the base handset plus 3.
When I had to replace the base of my 4 handset system, the base handset still worked. Therefore I had an extra handset which couldn't be used. So I decided to buy another base. Now I have 6 handsets which can be grouped 4,2 or 3,3.
were you ever able to register the additional handset? I have the same problem with 4 handsets, one broke and I bought 2 new vt2420 handsets. The unit wont register handset #3 (the one that broke). Would love to know if you were able to resolve the issue?
