Hi, I have a Poulan Pro 295 chainsaw that I'm putting a new fuel line on. I noticed that moving the choke lever that the choke doesn't completely close. Is that normal?

Remove the air filter, squirt a little fuel into the carb. Start and let run if it will for a few minutes. Could be you had some water in old fuel. and it is still in the intake of saw. If it still will not run after squirting some fuel into carb. You have a firing problem.

I suspect the carburetor is full of remnants of the same fluids you found in the tank. If it was my saw I'd take it to the local Stihl dealer for an estimate to repair. I'd expect to pay $40 - 80 for a tune up and repair depending on how many fuel hoses must be replaced. HTH

Clean the muffler spark arrestor screen and check the cylinder port for carbon build-up at the upper edge. Try presetting both carburetor H and L adjustments (from lightly CW stops) 1-1/2 turns CCW each. Start the engine and allow to warm up. Pull the throttle wide open and adjust H CW until the engine speed increases, but still 4-stroking. Correct setting is when the engine 4-strokes, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Allow to idle and adjust L for smoother running, yet allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Set idle speed to keep the engine running, but doesn't try to move the chain. You may have to look closer at your carburetor if the above doesn't help. Go to:

Does the spark plug get wet with fuel when pulled through? If dry, try spraying a little starting fluid in the plug hole and reinstall the plug. If it pops at least once, you have fuel delivery problems--look for hardened/ cracked fuel lines. Clean the muffler arrestor screen. When the muffler is off, check the condition of the piston skirt and cylinder wall for deep scoring or obvious wear. Make sure the primer button (if equipped) is filling with fuel when pumped a few times. If it doesn't, make sure the bulb is not hard or cracked and check the lines going to and from it. Check the carburetor bolts and nuts for tightness. The fuel filter in the tank could be plugged, fish it out and check. If you have checked all these items, it may be time to clean and rekit the carburetor. Hope this helps!

Poulan pro honda engine stalls as auto choke lever moves

Hi, when you say you cleaned the carb, did you strip it down and blow all the jets out with compressed air? If so, check that you have fuel flowing into the carb. If all this is ok check the valve clearances. Regards Phil.

My chainsaw starts but stops i think i am having problem with the Choke button

The saw should only fire once on choke, after that it should be pushed in and is not used again until the engine is completly cold, i would say you have a fuel starvation issue, rplace the fuel filter in the tank on the end of the fuel hose, chech all fuel lines for cracks or leakage.
