My new AO Smith 2HP pool pump won't pump water, just hums

I have an AO Smith 2HP pump that I replaced today for my pool, the replacement went smooth, but when the new pump is started, it just makes a dry running noise but no water circulates. I've tested the electrical, its in order. It just hums and gets very hot, but no water flows. I took it all apart to make sure it wasn't jammed up, the rotor turns, everything seems in order. What can I do?

I'm guessing that you replaced the motor that goes to the pump, not the pump itself. You know the motor works just fine. Is the motor rotating in the correct manner(clockwise or counterclockwise) in relation to the rotation of the pump? Have you checked the pump to see if the impeller is working/rotating? Is the motor hooked up to the pump correctly, so that the motor is turning the impeller? Are all connections to the pump tight, so there are no suction leaks? Have you primed the pump and purged it of any air locks?

I have a 2hp AO Smith motor on a Sears Premium pump. The plastic casing cracked all the way through and I was wondering where I could find a replacement casing?

What are you referring to as the "Casing"?
Pool or Spa Pump?

I am looking for a parts diagram for an A.O. Smith pool pump motor SP3220Z1BE.

The motor is made by A.O. Smith in Tippton, OH. You can try calling them, and with any luck you may get a kind soul that can get you a splsh sheild. It is probably not a part you can purchase from a distributor, but that is an option you can also pursue. Good luck.

I tried to replace an A.O. Smith B615 pump with a new one but the shaft doesn't seem long enough to reach the threaded nipple int he impeller. Help?

I suggest you compare the new motor with the old motor. If they are different then you need to get the right one.

I hope this helps.
