First thing to check would be the door switch, located behind the control panel on front. That was my similar problem
Bad short in plug or microwave if its micro. dont use it.It could start a fire and a plug can to
Expanding on David Emmel's answer above, there is a thermostat mounted on top of or very close to the magnetron. That would be the thermostat which could be defective. After being tripped a few times, a thermostat will go bad.
But you do need to verify the original problem, which is the fan is not running or your vent is clogged or if it's an over-the-range type your filter may be clogged, the ductwork maybe clogged, or the outside vent outside your home may have an animal nest in it.

Possibly an overheat condition causing a thermal cutout to open up then resets when cooled down. Make sure fan is running that cools the magnetron tube.

We have had problems like this before. Most likely the smartboard is defective.Check with manufacture to see if there is a recall. You should be able to find them on the web.

Depending on which brand you have I would think that the Thermal switch on top of the magnetron or one of the door switches has probably given up the ghost. However, if the display does not come on you probably have a micro or Psu fault on the display panel. Not to be attempted if you are not familiar with microwaves or electronics. Please unplug before opening. Good Luck, JUS004

could it be that i didn't follow the manuel because i got it second hand or is it because something is wrong with it,and i have to get it fixed.
SOURCE: The power is not on anymore.
It ended up being just a $2.50 fuse. Thats all. Glad I didn't have to pay someone $80 to walk through the door and tell me that. Don't you hate that!
