You need the USB Manager software to view the files. Have a look at all the software that were supplied with the machine. Load the embroidery software on your laptop and then open the USB manager.
When it opens it will show a light blue screen and grey icons to the left. Click in "disk", then click on "read disk" and you should be able to see your designs. The grey icons will turn orange were designs are stored, and the grey ones indicate empty space for more designs.

I am sorry to inform you that Husqvarna # 1 embroidery unit does not fit onto the Rose machine. The terminals on the Rose is upright, while on the H # 1 it is flat. If you want to do embroidery on the Rose, you will have to purchase the embroidery unit.

When I had that happen, it turned out that I had not wound the bobbin thread correctly (it was not wound tight and smooth enough). Wound a new bobbin from scratch, and all worked fine.
