Can't comment on the specific make but either the back lights gone. It's either tubes or LEDs. That or the driver has fault often a blown capacitor.
More info needed to be more specific.

Depends .. did you open the TV inside and found that the LEDs are burned?
Do not be the problem of the power supply, even if it burns a bar, it still remains the other light!
Maybe it's not all burned, and you only have one or two replaced, focus on their color, the most different in color or the dark even, the smoke etc. surely are the problem, easily break it off with a high temperature feeder applied behind it , or with a resistance that only gets warmed on a portion of 1 led.
I leave you a tutorial to see what and how.
Good luck!

How do I diagnose which board I need for 4k TV that powers on but the screen is black?

With the TV turned on, press the menu button and shine a bright flashlight on the screen at a shallow angle (about 20° from parallel to the screen). Move it around - if you can see the menu or other material where the flashlight is pointing, you have a backlight failure. This may be either in the power supply, or the backlight itself (sadly, with LED backlights, it's usually a blown LED).

I have a vizio 42 inch model VO420E serial# LUKECAK1409419. when i turn it on i get a black screen but i have audio. it does this in every input. what can i do to fix this problem?

Most likely you have a backlight problem. To verify this, dim the lights in the room. Take a bright flashlight, turn on the set, and shine it on the screen. If you see a faint picture, you have a backlight fault. Your backlight inverter may be built into your power supply board. If this is the case, you will have to replace the inverter/power supply board

Vizio VP50 has sound no picture

If this is an LCD TV, show a flashlight on the screen from a safe distance and check whether you can see the picture. If you can, the backlights or its circuits have gone bad. If you cannot, the TV needs attention of a qualified service technician.

I have a Vizio model E421VO LCD TV. The picture has quit working. I have soung and the Vizio light comes on but no picture. Any thoughts on fixes or cost to repair.

I would first try the good ole flashlight test. Turn off the lights in the room, turn on the TV and shine a bright flashlight on the screen. Do you see a faint picture?? I'm willing to bet you will, this is most likely a backlight failure. I'm willing to bet either the inverter or the 24Vdc power supply circuit has a fault. Do you have any electronics repair skills??

Unit turns on, I have audio but no picture. the little VIZIO does not light up anymore as well. If I shine a flashlight on the screen you can see the picture ever so slightly.....Any ideas?

Sounds like the Backlight has burned out. I would contact a Vizio Service Center and see about getting it fixed or replaced. http://www.vizio.com/support/ check there for the information you need.

Philips 50pf9631d/10 Audio ok but no picture

Bad power supply or backlight inverter.

If the backlight is not turning on, you should be able to see the lcd image by shining a bright flashlight at the screen.

Backlight inverters are loud, so you can hear them operating (high pitched whine) and if the backlight is coming on, you can see white light leaking around the edge of the screen, and even a little inside the cabinet.

Philips are legendary for having power supplies that fail due to bad capacitors, so that could be the culprit as well.

Picture went out on p50hdm Vizio Plazma tv after loud POP

It's either the backlight lamp or backlight inverter is busted due to a power failure or fluctuation. Here's how to determine which is which:
  1. Grab a flashlight.
  2. Turn on the TV.
  3. Shine the flashlight onto the screen.
  4. If you cannot see any display even a faint one, the backlight inverter is dead, else the backlight lamps are busted.
  5. Replace which ever is the culprit.
