The diode audio limiter is detecting when your audio levels are too high and clips the audio waveform, limiting the strength of the signal before it is further amplified by your audio amplifier. When the diode audio limiter is working, it is therefore helping eliminate static and pops that are annoying, and keep you from clearly hearing the desired signal.

send it to me for repair. it has a bad soldr joint somewhere it is a common problem on all galaxy radios. 40.00 plus 10 return shipping. i have an internet cb shop so you can watch me fix it. email me at [email protected] if you want it fixed

6A2 is the part number for a 6 amp diode.
maybe this will help.

5 amp is SR575
3 amp is 1N5822

Hi i have a galaxy dx 949 i loss the recevie what part do i change

Sub another mike becuse it is part of the circuit, audio output ic,"sometimes developes crack on case" check speaker,"opens" and finally check small capacitor near the audio output ic.

Power meter on my dx-979 barely moves off of 0 when transmitting the swr meter also hovers around 1.0 no matter what channel...not used to seeing such low swr readings and almost nothing on the power...

I would check the radio with an external meter to see if it is the transmitter or the Meter in the radio. If it is the meter in the radio it could have a bad detection Diode or just oout of adjustment or even a bad calibration pot. other wise start looking to fix your transmitter like finals or other similar problem.
